Where did the “27 Mega Evolutions” claim come from?
On March 25, 2025, Nintendo Life reported that the leaker formerly known as Pyoro hinted that “thousands of [people] know the number [of new Mega Evolutions] now but no one is willing to spill the beans,” then told readers to “look at the key at the upper left corner of your keyboard.” Readers inferred that the key was Esc and connected it to ASCII code 27. The leaker did not simply state that the game would have 27 new Mega Evolutions; the number depends on that interpretation. Nintendo Life’s March 25 report characterized the claim as a rumor and said no official announcement had confirmed the count or named Pokémon at the time.

Is the leak confirmed now that the game is out?
No. Pokémon Legends: Z-A was released on October 16, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, according to The Pokémon Company, which now lists the game as available. Official reveals since the rumor establish that some new Mega Evolutions exist, but the sources here do not give an official total of 27 or confirm that the original leak’s full count was right.
Which new Mega Evolutions has Pokémon officially revealed?

The Gen 5 angle belongs to the reported leak, not to an officially confirmed roster in the sources cited here. While official material has since named individual Mega Evolutions, it does not establish that the alleged 27-count leak was accurate or verify its Gen 5 detail. Treat that part of the claim as unconfirmed rather than retroactively validated by later reveals.

No. The official DLC page describes Mega Dimension as additional story content that can be played after completing the main story. The Pokémon Company announced a separate Nintendo Switch 2 Edition plus Mega Dimension bundle, scheduled for release on October 29, 2026. According to its September 30, 2026 announcement, the bundle puts the Switch 2 Edition and DLC together on one game card; owners of the Switch 2 Edition can instead purchase the DLC separately.
