These are sensible maintenance steps, not guaranteed fixes: official sources do not identify one universal cause or remedy for crashes in Pokémon UNITE.
What to try first
Work through these steps in order, starting with the quickest and most reversible. Menu wording can vary by language or system interface.

Check for a Pokémon UNITE update
On the HOME Menu, highlight the Pokémon UNITE software icon, open its software options, and choose the option to update the software over the internet. Nintendo documents this process in its software update instructions.

Check for a Switch system update
Open System Settings, select System, then choose System Update. Nintendo lists Switch system version 23.0.0 as released on September 10, 2026; that is a general console update, not a documented Pokémon UNITE crash fix. See Nintendo’s system update information.

Restart the game and console
Close Pokémon UNITE, restart the console, and launch the game again. Restarting is a low-risk general troubleshooting step, not a remedy verified for every crash. Pokémon UNITE’s official site has previously advised restarting the app when an update has not appeared, but those notices do not establish a crash fix: official Pokémon UNITE notices.
If the game still crashes
Consider redownloading the game only as a further step
Nintendo explains how to redownload digital software using the account that acquired it. The instructions are at Nintendo’s redownload guide. Redownloading is an available maintenance option, but the reviewed official information does not say that reinstalling Pokémon UNITE fixes crashes.

Contact official support with useful details
If the problem continues, report it through Pokémon UNITE’s official site. Include when the game closes, whether the same action or situation triggers it repeatedly, your Switch model, and the game and system software versions. These details can help support investigate; they are practical suggestions, not a published required checklist.

A crash by itself does not show whether the cause is the game, the console, an update, the network, or another factor. The available official information does not establish any of these as the cause of Pokémon UNITE crashes, nor does it support buying an accessory as a fix. Avoid a factory reset as an early troubleshooting step: the available sources do not establish it as a game-specific remedy, and initializing a console affects its data.
