It has not been confirmed that Pokémon Center cancelled the early bulk orders attributed to scalpers. A September 2025 report said a group claimed to have purchased at least 42,000 Phantasmal Flames products through a listing that appeared in Pokémon Center’s backend before public launch, but the report said the orders’ cancellation status was unclear. Later individual cancellation accounts do not establish that this batch was cancelled or explain why any particular order was.
What happened with the early Phantasmal Flames orders?
On September 3, 2025, PokéBeach reported that Phantasmal Flames products had appeared in Pokémon Center’s backend before their public launch. A Discord group called Hidden Society claimed it had collectively purchased at least 42,000 products. That number is the group’s claim as reported by the outlet, not an independently audited retailer count. PokéBeach’s report also said it remained unclear whether Pokémon Center cancelled those early orders.
The report discussed alleged cancellation screenshots circulating at the time and quoted a group administrator instructing another staff member to say the orders had been cancelled. It did not establish that the orders were actually cancelled. Nor is there an official named statistic for how many Phantasmal Flames orders, if any, were cancelled in connection with the incident.
Do later cancellation reports prove there was a mass cancellation?
No. A November 2025 Reddit post describes one customer’s preorder cancellation and reproduces a purported support reply referring to Terms of Use violations. That is an individual, unverified account; it does not independently prove the reason for that customer’s cancellation, a coordinated mass cancellation, or the fate of the early bulk orders. The Reddit account should be read as an anecdote, not confirmation of Pokémon Center’s actions.

The early backend incident and later ordinary preorder cancellations are distinct events. A cancellation reported by an individual customer cannot, by itself, establish that Pokémon Center cancelled the group’s earlier orders or did so because of scalping.
What does Pokémon Center say about preorder cancellations?
Pokémon Center’s published policy gives billing or shipping information problems as general reasons for preorder cancellations. Its FAQ says: “Preorder cancelations occur whenever there is an issue with the billing or shipping information.” It also notes that payment may fail authorization when preorders are processed for shipping. In a May 26, 2026 update, Pokémon Support said high demand was affecting product availability, that it was working to print impacted products at maximum capacity, and that future expansions would have increased production. Pokémon’s availability update gives broad supply context; it does not retrospectively confirm what happened to the early 2025 orders.

Phantasmal Flames product formats named in a customer complaint include booster boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes, and booster bundles. That complaint is not evidence of current stock or a current retailer listing.

How to assess a claim that the orders were cancelled
- Identify the order period: distinguish the early backend listing incident from the regular preorder period.
- Check the evidence: a retailer notice or verifiable order-level documentation is stronger than screenshots relayed through a group or an individual post.
- Separate cancellation from its cause: even a documented cancellation does not establish that Pokémon Center cited scalping or a Terms of Use violation.
