There is no official top-ten ranking for Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals, and the cards below are not ranked by price or guaranteed tournament strength. This editorial shortlist favors character appeal, visual interest, and the story told by each trainer-and-Pokémon pairing. Pokémon’s official coverage highlights several of these cards, while the prerelease promos are separate from the regular booster-pack checklist.

How to read this Destined Rivals shortlist

The Pokémon Company’s expansion page spotlights Cynthia and Garchomp ex, Ethan and Ho-Oh ex, Arven and Mabosstiff ex, and Giovanni with Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex. Its feature article also discusses Arven’s Sandwich and the synergy between Ethan’s Ho-Oh ex and his Pokémon. Those are editorial spotlights, not an official ranking. This list combines that coverage with the appeal of four prerelease promo pairings; it does not claim these are the ten rarest, most valuable, or strongest cards.

Because the available official pages do not provide a complete card checklist or establish every card’s rarity and booster-pack availability, check the official card list for the precise card name, version, rarity, and text before treating any entry as a standard-pack pull. A prerelease promo is not automatically a card from a regular booster pack.

10 Destined Rivals cards worth looking for

  1. Cynthia’s Garchomp ex

A headline pairing on the official expansion page and one of the cards discussed in Pokémon’s feature article. The appeal is the combination of a recognizable Champion and her signature Pokémon, making it a natural centerpiece for collectors drawn to character-led cards.

  3. Ethan’s Ho-Oh ex

Pokémon’s feature article highlights Ho-Oh ex alongside Ethan’s Pokémon, giving the card an appealing role within a broader trainer-and-team theme. It is a good pick for fans who value the connection between a featured Pokémon and its trainer.

  6. Misty’s Gyarados prerelease promo

Misty’s Gyarados is one of four promos named in the official prerelease announcement. It is especially appealing to fans of the Gym Leader and her iconic Pokémon. This is a prerelease Build & Battle promo candidate, not evidence that the card is pulled from an ordinary booster pack.

  7. Team Rocket’s Tyranitar prerelease promo

The prerelease announcement also names Team Rocket’s Tyranitar. It extends the set’s villain-side theme beyond Giovanni’s Mewtwo and offers a distinct character-and-Pokémon pairing for collectors seeking the Team Rocket promos.

What “best” does—and does not—mean here

This is a collector-focused editorial selection informed by official spotlights and named promos. The official sources do not establish a canonical top ten, current secondary-market values, pull odds, or a tournament-power ranking. Card prices can vary by date, market, condition, and version; competitive value depends on verified card text and the decks being played. Use a current card checklist and dated market or tournament sources if you need those specific comparisons.

Pokémon’s feature article covers Cynthia’s Garchomp ex, Arven’s Sandwich, and Ethan’s Ho-Oh ex with Ethan’s Pokémon: official Destined Rivals feature. The broader set themes and featured trainer pairings appear on the official expansion page.
