Tapu Fini is a Water- and Fairy-type five-star raid boss, and its weaknesses are Electric, Grass, and Poison attacks. Build a party around your strongest Pokémon that can use those types. Pokémon GO Hub estimates that three high-level Trainers can win, while four to six decently prepared Trainers should be comfortable; those are guide estimates, not guaranteed minimums.

Tapu Fini’s weaknesses and raid counters

Tapu Fini is weak to Electric, Grass, and Poison attacks. Use the strongest Pokémon available to you that can deal damage with one of those types. There is no definitive counter ranking established here, so a Pokémon’s level, available moves, and ability to stay in the fight matter more than following a supposedly universal top-six list.

Compare your options by checking whether their Fast and Charged Attacks exploit a weakness, how well they can survive Tapu Fini’s attacks, and whether a Mega or other team bonus is available to your group. Pokémon GO recommends a team based on the opponent’s strengths and weaknesses, but you can customize your battle party of up to six Pokémon. Niantic’s raid battle guide explains type advantages and the basic battle controls.

How many Trainers do you need?

Pokémon GO Hub’s raid guide estimates that three high-level Trainers can defeat Tapu Fini, while four to six decently prepared Trainers should have a more comfortable attempt. These are estimates, not official thresholds. Trainer level, Pokémon strength and moves, weather, and the boss’s moves can all affect the result. If your group is less prepared, bringing more players is the safer choice.

How to prepare and battle

  1. Build around the weaknesses. Choose your strongest available Electric-, Grass-, or Poison-type attackers, prioritizing Pokémon with suitable attacks.
  2. Review the recommended party. Use the in-game recommendation as a starting point, then customize your party of up to six if you have stronger options.
  3. Use Charged Attacks. Fast Attacks charge the Charged Attack meter; use Charged Attacks when ready to add damage.
  4. Dodge when it helps your team stay in the fight. Swipe to dodge incoming attacks. Balance dodging with continuing to deal damage.

These mechanics and party options are described in Niantic’s raid battle instructions.

Tapu Fini raid catch CP

Pokémon GO Hub’s database lists these CP ranges for a Tapu Fini caught after a raid. They are reference encounter values, not a promise of a particular individual’s IVs.

Encounter conditions Listed catch CP
No weather boost 1556–1632 CP
Weather boosted 1946–2041 CP

The database lists Rain and Cloudy weather as boosts for the encounter. Pokémon GO Hub’s Tapu Fini database entry provides the CP reference.

Is Tapu Fini currently in raids?

Raid lineups change, so check the in-game raid map and the latest official Pokémon GO announcements for your region. As of October 8, 2026, the official World Space Week announcement covers October 4–10, 2026 local time and lists Astronaut Pikachu in one-star raids, but does not list Tapu Fini. Tapu Fini was listed in the official Road of Legends five-star raid lineup in July 2026; that appearance is historical, not evidence of current availability.

What is Tapu Fini useful for after the raid?

Pokémon GO Hub characterizes Tapu Fini as more defensive than damage-focused and rates it poorly as a Water-type raid attacker. Its Fairy-type raid role is comparatively stronger, but still limited in that database’s analysis. That assessment is not official game guidance; consider collecting Tapu Fini for your Pokédex, shiny hunting, or PvP interest rather than assuming it will become a top raid damage dealer. See Pokémon GO Hub’s Tapu Fini database entry for its evaluation.
