Steam lists Windows 10 as the minimum operating system and Windows 11 as recommended; its minimum tier calls for 4 GB of RAM and 12 GB of available storage. The requirements below are the store’s stated specifications, not independently tested performance results.
What do you do in Prison Escape Simulator: Dig Out?
The goal is to escape by digging a tunnel from your cell. Steam describes starting with a teaspoon, then managing the practical risks of excavation: loose sand has to be concealed, and guard inspections can expose your progress. The game’s loop also includes trading with guards or other prisoners, finding items, improving stats and equipment, and upgrading your cell. Letters provide clues about the tunnel’s depth and direction. Gambling is another activity and, according to the store description, can affect money and reputation.

That makes the premise broader than digging alone: you balance tunnel progress against concealment, inspections, and the resources and upgrades that support the attempt. This is a description of the game as presented on its Steam store page, not a firsthand review.
Will it run on your Windows PC?
Steam’s Windows listing separates minimum and recommended configurations. The minimum tier includes an additional note of 1080p at 60 fps; this is the publisher’s stated target, not a benchmark independently verified across hardware.

The developer’s May 5, 2026 patch announcement documented a controller-input correction: “A single gamepad button was incorrectly assigned to two different actions — drinking an energy drink and placing all items on the table. Both actions now have separate, correct bindings on the controller.” This indicates that controller input is addressed in the game, but it does not establish a compatibility list for particular controller models. Check the current Steam page and your preferred controller’s connection and input support before buying if gamepad play is essential.
What has been added since release?
The game was released on July 25, 2025. In announcements dated April 15 and April 17, 2026, the developer previewed and then announced the availability of a Siberian prison update. The announcements describe new mechanics, tools, challenges, a continuation of the story, and new achievements. Details are in the official Steam announcement feed; check it for later changes.
