No reliable evidence shows that choosing a Pokémon TCG Pocket pack with a bent-looking corner improves your odds. The “bent corner” idea was a player theory shared around the game’s launch, and the reported hits and misses are anecdotes—not a controlled comparison. For probabilities the game actually states, check the offering-rates display for the expansion you are opening.
What is the “bent corner” theory?
Some players said a crease or curve near the upper corner of a digital booster-pack image could signal better cards. In launch-era posts, players urged others to turn a pack sideways and inspect its upper-right edge, claiming there was “a good chance there’s a rare card inside.” The phrase “bent corner meta” described this community tactic; it is not official game terminology.
Nintendo Life reported mixed informal outcomes: one bent-looking pack produced a full-art Articuno ex, but several subsequent packs did not yield comparable cards, and an attempt on a separate account and device did not begin with a hit. Those examples show why the theory attracted attention, but they do not measure whether the appearance changes the odds. Nintendo Life’s November 3, 2024 report documents the discussion, not proof of a trick.
Does a bent-looking pack increase rare-pull odds?
That has not been established by the cited reporting. A few players’ successes or misses cannot tell you whether bent-looking packs perform differently from other packs: there is no controlled comparison or independently published statistic here that establishes a sample size, success rate, or odds increase. Treat the corner as a visual detail, not a dependable way to choose a pack.

Official materials cited on Pocket explain other parts of the game but do not settle this specific claim. The Pokémon TCG Pocket Gameplay FAQ, for example, says a rewind watch cannot be used on pack-opening results for packs already wonder-picked; it does not say whether corner appearance affects contents.
Where can you check the stated odds?
Use the offering-rates display in Pocket for the expansion you are opening. Nintendo Life’s report describes that menu as showing rare-pack probabilities and card-specific chances. Rates are expansion-specific and may change, so consult the current in-game display rather than relying on a number quoted elsewhere. The cited report does not provide a current rate table.

Does opening a physical Pokémon pack explain the digital one?
No. Pocket is a digital card-collection experience, and the appearance of its on-screen pack carousel should not be treated as evidence about the handling of tabletop booster packs. Pokémon’s guide to collecting cards and using Wonder Picks in Pocket describes the game’s own digital mechanics. Physical card-pack behavior does not offer a way to influence digital pulls.

Pokémon GO Hub reported an attributed response from The Pokémon Company: “While Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket draws inspiration from the experience of opening physical Pokémon TCG booster packs, we are unable to share specifics at this time”. That statement does not confirm the bent-corner theory, explain the pack-selection mechanism, or establish that packs are predetermined. Pokémon GO Hub’s report is historical coverage of the question, not an official explanation of corner appearance.
