Mythical Island release date
The Pokémon Company announced Mythical Island on December 12, 2024, as an expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket. Its announced release date was December 17, 2024. The expansion is part of the digital card game for iOS and Android, not a physical Pokémon Trading Card Game set. The Pokémon Company’s announcement gives the date and preview details.
What the expansion included
The official preview said Mythical Island would feature over 80 cards, including five Pokémon ex cards and five Trainer cards. It specifically highlighted Mew ex, Celebi ex, and Aerodactyl ex. The Pokémon Company described the expansion this way: “The Mythical Island expansion features over 80 cards, including five new exciting Pokémon ex cards, five new Trainer cards, and gorgeous immersive cards ready to bring you into the wondrous world of Pokémon.”
Context at announcement
On December 12, 2024, DeNA reported that Pokémon TCG Pocket had exceeded 60 million downloads on iOS and Android since its global launch on October 30, 2024. That is a dated company-reported milestone, not a current download total. DeNA’s announcement reports the figure.
