Pokémon GO’s India-exclusive Festival of Lights 2024 ran from November 1 to November 4, 2024, and has ended. It introduced Pikachu wearing a saree, offered double Stardust and XP for catches, and featured event encounters through Incense, raids and Field Research.
When and where did Festival of Lights 2024 take place?
The event ran from Friday, November 1, at 10:00 a.m. through Monday, November 4, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time. It was limited to Trainers in India. Niantic’s announcement described it as “exclusively for Trainers in India.” Niantic’s official event announcement has the original schedule and event details.
How could you encounter saree Pikachu?
Pikachu wearing a saree made its Pokémon GO debut during the event. A Shiny version was possible, but neither the announcement nor the event guaranteed one. The two announced ways to encounter it were raids and Festival of Light–themed Field Research.
| Route | How it worked | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| Raids | Join a raid featuring saree Pikachu. | Required access to the event’s India-only game content during the event window. |
| Field Research | Complete Festival of Light–themed tasks for a possible encounter reward. | Required access to event Field Research in India during the event window. |
The announcement gives no encounter odds for either route, so it does not establish that one was more likely than the other to yield a Shiny. Field Research could also reward encounters with Morelull or Tadbulb; eligible encounters could be Shiny when lucky, not guaranteed to be so.
