If it is still empty or a particular person or request is missing, check that you are using the right account, then review privacy and family settings, online status, and blocked players. Check PSN and your network when other online features are failing too; there is no single confirmed fix for every friends-list issue.
Open the friends list and confirm the account
Press the PS button to open the control centre, choose Game Base, then select the Friends tab. Make sure the console is signed in to the PlayStation account that has the friend relationships you expect to see.
You can also check the list in the PlayStation App. If friends appear in the app but not on the console, that helps narrow the issue to the PS5 view rather than the account relationship itself. PlayStation’s guide to adding and removing friends covers the console and app, as well as friend requests and searching for players.
Work out whether one person or the whole list is missing
If one friend is missing
Search for the person using their online ID and check your pending friend requests. Search results can depend on privacy settings, so not finding an account does not by itself prove that the friendship has been removed.

If requests are missing
Open Game Base and check the friend requests area. If expected requests still do not appear, review the privacy controls that govern who can send requests and interact with the account. For a child account, a family manager or parent/guardian may control those settings.
If the whole list is missing
First verify the signed-in account and compare with the PlayStation App. Then review privacy settings and check whether other PSN features work. A missing online indicator is not proof that the friendship itself is gone.

Review privacy and family settings
On PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Privacy. Check the selected privacy preset or inspect the individual settings for profile information, activity, friend requests, friends, and communication. Focus on the control related to what is missing rather than loosening privacy more broadly than necessary.
Some options for child members are managed by the family manager or parent/guardian. PlayStation explains the controls and their account effects in its privacy settings guide.

Check online status separately from friendship
Online status affects how availability appears; it does not establish whether two accounts are friends. Check the account’s Online Status from the profile or control centre if a friend is missing only from an online view or appears unavailable. PlayStation says a status change made while signed in on one PS5 or PS4 can apply across those consoles. See PlayStation’s online status instructions.
Check whether the player is blocked
If one account is absent, review the blocked-player list. Blocking prevents the two players from viewing each other’s profiles, activity, or personal information. If you unblock someone, the friendship does not automatically return: send a new friend request if you want to reconnect. PlayStation’s blocking and unblocking guide explains how the feature works.

Test PSN and the network when other features fail
Network troubleshooting is most useful when other PSN features or connection tests also fail, rather than when the only symptom is a friends-list display issue. Check PlayStation Network service status. If services are active but connection errors continue, test the PS5’s internet connection, restart the console and modem/router, and try a wired connection or improve Wi-Fi placement.
For error NW-102650-4, PlayStation also lists router firmware and network configuration among later troubleshooting possibilities. Avoid advanced router changes as a first response to an isolated missing list; follow the steps for that error in PlayStation’s NW-102650-4 guide.

For NP-103107-2, PlayStation says the service may be undergoing maintenance. If PSN is active, its guidance is to reset the console’s network settings and test again, then restart the router/modem and retry later if necessary. See the NP-103107-2 support page.
Contact PlayStation Support if the issue remains
If the list is still missing after checking the account, visibility settings, and any relevant connection issue, contact PlayStation Support. Include whether all friends or just one person are affected, whether the PlayStation App shows the same problem, whether other PSN features work, and any error code. Those details help distinguish an account-visibility issue from a console or service connection problem.
