What did Nintendo announce about Switch 2?
Nintendo described Switch 2 as the successor to Nintendo Switch and said the new system would be released in 2025. The company said it would play Switch 2 exclusive games as well as physical and digital Nintendo Switch games.
That compatibility statement came with a qualification: “Certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.” The January announcement did not specify which games would be affected, so it should not be read as a guarantee that every Switch game works fully on the newer system.
