How to reach the Ancient Battery riddle
- Complete Mysterious Object and speak with Jina to receive Ancient Battery.
- Take the Ancient… Thing? quest item to the door behind the waterfall near the Phoenix in Kilima, then interact with the door to enter the Temple of the Waves.
- Explore the temple until you reach the large brass door. Read the plaque beside it to reveal the riddle.
What is the answer to the riddle?
The plaque says: “Knowledge grows the mind even in times of strife. To enter here, you must supply that which grows life.” The answer is water: equip your watering can and pour water into the brass basin by the door. Keep pouring until the basin fills and the door opens. GameSpot reproduces the plaque’s wording and basin solution; the Official Palia Wiki quest walkthrough also describes the interaction.
If your watering can is empty
Use one of the small pools nearby to refill it, then return to the basin and pour again.
What to do after the door opens
Speak with Jina in the chamber, scout farther ahead, then return to report your findings. The quest page recommends interacting with the Phoenix Statue and Headless Statue along the way. Completing Ancient Battery automatically starts Like a Bird.

Ancient Battery quest rewards
The Official Palia Wiki lists 25 Renown for the quest: 15 during the quest and 10 upon completion. It also lists an optional additional 5 Renown for reading the Tattered Journal and asking Jina about it. These are the reward values listed on the quest page, not a claim about a particular current game build. The wiki says Build 0.189 reworked how the quest is received; its page header showed Build 0.206 when crawled, which does not establish that 0.206 is the latest version.
