Path of the Warrior is a first-person VR beat-’em-up inspired by Streets of Rage and other arcade brawlers—not an official Streets of Rage game. It launched for Oculus Quest and Rift in December 2019. Launch-era reports describe solo play and cooperative play, with co-op added in a free update in January 2020.

Is Path of the Warrior basically Streets of Rage in VR?

That is a fair shorthand for its influences, but not a literal description of its format or franchise. Path of the Warrior takes the familiar arcade-brawler idea of fighting through groups of enemies and moves it into first-person VR. Streets of Rage is one of its reference points alongside Double Dragon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game, and Final Fight.

GamesBeat’s launch coverage described a trailer that initially evokes a side-scrolling brawler before revealing the first-person VR perspective. The result is an homage to classic beat-’em-ups, not a Sega game or an official entry in the Streets of Rage series. Oculus Studios executive producer Mike Doran said that some of his earliest gaming memories were beat-’em-ups including Double Dragon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game, Streets of Rage, and Final Fight. How does the VR version change the brawler formula?

Instead of viewing a fighter from the side and issuing attacks with conventional controls, players see the action from a first-person perspective and fight at close range in VR. Road to VR’s launch report describes using objects found in the environment—including pool cues, trash cans, and frying pans—in fights. It also describes a campaign that moves through settings such as bars and carnivals, with boss rewards and bystanders offering power-up snacks. These details come from launch-era coverage, rather than a current feature audit. Road to VR

Doran described the project as an opportunity to revisit older brawlers the team had not played in years, and said they wanted a “Double Dragon feel.” That influence helps explain the game’s arcade roots, while the first-person viewpoint and physical object use distinguish its VR presentation. Which platforms and multiplayer options were reported?

Launch-era coverage says Path of the Warrior released for Oculus Quest and Rift in December 2019. It was described as supporting cross-buy and cross-play between those Oculus platforms. Road to VR reported on January 16, 2020, that a free update had added co-op across the single-player levels, allowing a friend to join. Those reports establish the original platform and update details; they do not confirm compatibility with every newer headset model or the game’s present store status. Road to VR

Is it still out now, and what does it cost?

The “out now” phrasing refers to the game’s December 2019 launch, not a verified statement about current availability. UploadVR reported a launch price of $19.99 on December 12, 2019; that is a historical price, not a confirmed current price. Check the relevant store listing for present availability and pricing.
