If Pokémon GO will not connect to Pokémon HOME, first identify where the process stops: linking the accounts, sending Pokémon from GO, or accepting them in HOME. The fixes differ. Most importantly, check that GO is linked to the Nintendo Account for the HOME account you intend to use, and remember that a completed send still needs to be accepted in HOME.
Identify which part of the transfer is failing
Connecting, sending, and receiving are separate stages. Work out which one is failing before changing login details or reinstalling an app.
- Linking: Can you open GO’s Pokémon HOME connection settings and sign in to a Nintendo Account?
- Sending: Does the intended HOME account appear, and can the GO Transporter start and complete a transfer?
- Receiving: After the send, does HOME show a prompt to accept the Pokémon?
Niantic’s current route is Settings > Connected Devices and Services > Pokémon HOME. Pokémon Support also describes the route as Settings > Pokémon HOME. Labels may vary as the app changes, so follow the Pokémon HOME connection entry shown in your current GO settings. See Niantic Pokémon GO Help Center and Pokémon Support’s transfer troubleshooting guide.
Check that GO and HOME use the same Nintendo Account
GO must be signed in with the Nintendo Account associated with the HOME account where you want the Pokémon to arrive. In GO’s HOME connection settings, compare the displayed player name and Support ID with the intended HOME account. If they do not match, sign out of the Nintendo Account in GO and sign in with the correct one.
#1 Best Overall
- 3 complete Pokémon TCG decks (60 cards each)
- Each deck includes a powerful special Pokémon: Cinderace V, Pikachu V, or Eevee V
- Eevee deck includes 2 copies of an all-new promo card featuring Galarian Obstagoon
- 1 instruction sheet to help you set up to play
- 2 tutorial guides to lead you through the decks
If HOME never offers the expected Pokémon, compare the HOME Support ID shown in GO’s settings with the ID on HOME’s launch screen. A mismatched ID can mean the transfer was sent to a different HOME account, rather than that the connection failed. Pokémon Support explains this check in its receipt troubleshooting guidance.
Accept a completed transfer in Pokémon HOME
Sending Pokémon from GO does not automatically place them in HOME’s Boxes. Open HOME and accept the pending transfer. If you previously declined the prompt, restart HOME and choose Yes, or use Options > Pokémon GO Link > Receive.

- Connect to Pokémon GO* to transfer caught Kanto-region Pokémon, including Alolan and Shiny forms, as well as the newly discovered Pokémon, Meltan, from that game to this one
If HOME cannot receive the Pokémon, check that its Boxes have free space, make room, and try again. You must receive an outstanding GO transfer before sending another one. If the Pokémon is difficult to spot after receipt, check the recent sort order or use HOME’s Pokémon GO filter. See Pokémon Support’s instructions.
Check whether the selected Pokémon can be transferred
An unavailable Pokémon does not necessarily indicate a broken account connection. Niantic’s current help guidance says these Pokémon cannot be sent from GO to HOME:

Some Pokémon also change form during transfer. Examples include Origin Forme Giratina becoming Altered Forme Giratina, Sunshine Form Cherrim becoming Overcast Form Cherrim, and weather forms of Castform becoming its usual form. Check the transfer confirmation screen for a form-change notice. Lucky and Purified status are lost. Consult Niantic’s Pokémon GO Help Center for its current eligibility guidance.
Know the costs and one-way nature of sending
GO transfers use GO Transporter Energy. The amount depends on the Pokémon; energy recharges over time and can be replenished immediately with PokéCoins. A transfer to HOME is one-way: the Pokémon cannot be returned to GO. Review the selection and confirmation screen before sending.
You do not need a Pokémon HOME Premium Plan or a Nintendo Switch Online membership to transfer Pokémon from GO to HOME. Pokémon Support states that a Premium Plan is not required in its transfer FAQ. You can receive through HOME on a mobile device; the Switch version is optional. To use the same Boxes in both versions, link both to the same Nintendo Account. More details are in Pokémon Support’s HOME transfer guidance.

If Pokémon HOME itself will not open or sign in
For HOME mobile problems, Pokémon Support recommends checking that the device meets the app’s minimum requirements and that HOME is up to date, then restarting the device on a stable internet connection. Its guidance also recommends enabling location services. For an iOS login issue, try entering credentials manually or signing into Nintendo in a separate browser before reopening HOME. See Pokémon Support.

If GO authentication fails with Pokémon Trainer Central
For a Pokémon Trainer Central login failure, Pokémon Support recommends testing the credentials on Pokemon.com, checking that Niantic is authorized, updating the operating system and GO app, disabling a VPN, and rebooting. Its additional cache or reinstall steps are platform-specific. If you use another GO sign-in method, follow the relevant guidance from Pokémon Support’s login article and Niantic support. Do not treat reinstalling as a first-line fix for a transfer that is already pending receipt.
