Pokémon GO’s Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta Community Day took place on September 14, 2024. The main event ran from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, and the featured evolution move was available until 10:00 p.m. local time. This retrospective guide covers the event schedule, bonuses, raids, and how evolving either form could unlock Wild Charge.
When was Ponyta Community Day?
The event was held Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta appeared more frequently in the wild during those three hours. The event is over; these dates and offers are historical, not currently available.
Pokémon GO’s official event announcement said players might encounter Shiny versions of either Pokémon, but did not publish a numeric Shiny rate.
How did you get Wild Charge on Rapidash?
Evolve Ponyta into Rapidash, or Galarian Ponyta into Galarian Rapidash, during the event or by 10:00 p.m. local time on September 14 to get the corresponding evolution with the Charged Attack Wild Charge. That five-hour extension meant players could evolve after the main event ended at 5:00 p.m.

What bonuses were available?
The main event’s catch bonuses ran from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Other event benefits had different durations, so the end time mattered:

How did the four-star raid extension work?
From 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time, special four-star raids featured Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta. These raids could be joined with a Raid Pass or Premium Battle Pass; Remote Raid Passes were not allowed.
Winning one caused additional Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta to appear around the Gym hosting the raid for 30 minutes. According to the event announcement, those raid-triggered encounters had the same Shiny chance as encounters during the three-hour Community Day.

| Time (local) | What was available |
|---|---|
| 2:00–5:00 p.m. | Boosted wild appearances, catch bonuses, event-length Lure Module and eligible Incense effects, Field Research, and snapshot encounters. |
| 5:00–10:00 p.m. | Special four-star raids, Gym-area spawns after raid wins, the extended evolution deadline for Wild Charge, and the additional trade benefits. |
Players planning to spend several hours outdoors could consider bringing a charged phone or a portable power bank; this is a practical suggestion, not a recommendation from the event announcement. Pokémon GO advised players to be aware of their surroundings and follow local health-authority guidance. The announcement also pointed players to its Community Day map, Community Ambassador activations, and Campfire to look for local groups; that does not mean Niantic operated every listed park or local gathering.
