Mega Dimension shiny hunting is strongest when you combine two approaches: use a Sparkling Power donut to improve the encounter setup, then repeatedly fast travel to a nearby Hyperspace entrance to refresh the Pokémon group. The fast-travel reroll is most practical when your target is visible close to the entrance; distant targets may need a situational workaround.
What Mega Dimension adds for shiny hunters
Nintendo announced Mega Dimension’s release for December 10, 2025. The DLC sends players into Hyperspace Lumiose through portals opened by Hoopa, with Ansha helping players make donuts that grant useful effects. Nintendo says the DLC requires the full Pokémon Legends: Z-A game, sold separately. Its US page lists the DLC, the Nintendo Switch game, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, and an upgrade pack as separate products. The Pokémon Company’s launch announcement likewise describes powerful Pokémon living in an alternate version of Lumiose City.
The official announcements establish the setting and product requirements, but not the shiny-hunting mechanics below. The detailed tactics and figures are reported by Nintendo Everything’s December 22, 2025 guide; they have not been independently tested for this article. Treat the numeric odds and workarounds as guide-reported, not official guarantees.
Method 1: Make a Sparkling Power donut
A donut with Sparkling Power is the dedicated shiny-hunting boost described in the guide. Its recommended setup is a five-star donut with at least 420 Sweet flavor points. Hyper Tanga berries are named as a strong Sweet contributor, with Hyper Haban, Hyper Occa, and Hyper Chople as alternatives. Because the guide says effects can vary even with the same ingredients, you may need to try more than once to get the effect you want.

- As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.
Rerolling a donut effect
The guide describes this backup-save sequence for trying for a different donut effect:
- Save at a Pokémon Center before making the donut.
- Make the donut and check its effect.
- If it is unsuitable, reload the backup save and try again.
The sequence matters because the guide says the game auto-saves when a donut is made. This is a guide-reported method, not an official instruction; do not assume a save made after crafting preserves the earlier backup.

What the guide’s odds mean
Nintendo Everything reports roughly 1-in-585 shiny odds with Sparkling Power 3 and the Shiny Charm. That is a guide-reported figure, not an official Pokémon Company statistic or a promise that a shiny will appear within a set number of encounters. The same guide reports that Level 3 Alpha Power makes roughly 50% of spawns Alpha; that is an Alpha-spawn figure, not a shiny chance.
Method 2: Fast travel to refresh nearby spawns
Choose a small hyperspace pocket where the target Pokémon are visible close to the entrance. Repeatedly fast traveling to that entrance can reroll the nearby group, according to the guide. This creates more opportunities to encounter a shiny; it does not guarantee one.

If a shiny appears or you hear one, save immediately. The guide warns that some Pokémon flee quickly, so delaying a save can let the Pokémon despawn. The method can still be useful with a donut that grants Alpha Power but not Sparkling Power, although Sparkling Power is the dedicated shiny boost.
When fast travel does not reach the target group
For Pokémon farther from the entrance, the guide suggests testing a floor teleport pad to see whether it moves you far enough to despawn the group. Check whether group members or Alpha spawns have changed; that is a practical sign that a reroll occurred. If the pad does not cover enough distance, the guide describes knocking out the target group, saving after about 57 seconds, and reloading near the reported respawn point. This is a situational, source-reported workaround—not a universal exploit or guaranteed respawn method.

- Live the life of a Pokémon Trainer in the streets of Lumiose City!
- For the first time in the Pokémon RPG series, command your Pokémon in real-time battles
- Use the power of Mega Evolution in battle and take on rampaging Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon
- Compete in the Z-A Royale each night to test your skills and try to become the strongest Pokémon Trainer
- Visit shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free—all centered around Prism Tower
The guide also recommends using a donut with a star level at least as high as the hyperspace pocket’s level, saying a lower-level donut makes the timer run faster. A rushed timer may therefore indicate that the donut and pocket levels do not match.

| Approach | Best fit | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Sparkling Power donut | Improving the shiny-hunting setup before checking spawns | Requires recipe preparation, and the desired effect may take repeated attempts |
| Entrance fast-travel reroll | A small pocket with targets close enough to despawn and reappear | Works only if travel refreshes that group; it creates chances, not a guaranteed shiny |
| Teleport pad or respawn workaround | Targets that are too far from the entrance for the ordinary reroll | Situational; the guide does not establish it as universal or guaranteed |
Use the donut to improve encounter conditions and fast travel to produce repeated spawn opportunities. Before settling in, check that the target is near the entrance, the pocket is manageable, and the donut’s star level is not below the pocket’s. For a distant group, verify that a teleport pad actually changes the spawns before relying on it.
