The available reporting does not confirm that the mod was ever released or is currently downloadable.
What the Palworld Pokémon mod showed
The teaser showed a planned mod for the Steam version of Palworld that would replace the game’s Pals with Pokémon and change the player character to Ash Ketchum. Windows Central reported that the planned scope was all 113 Pals; that figure describes the teased plan, not a verified completed mod.
Coverage referred to the project as the Palworld Pokémon mod, and searches for “Ash Ketchum Palworld mod” or “Pikachu Palworld mod” point to that teaser. They do not establish that a finished version was made publicly available. Windows Central’s January 23, 2024 report describes what was shown and the delay.
Why was the release delayed?
After the teaser was taken down following a DMCA notice, creator ToastedShoes said the planned public release was delayed. The notice’s source was not officially identified in the cited reporting. ToastedShoes’s response referencing Nintendo was not independent confirmation that Nintendo issued it, so it should not be treated as proof of who sent the notice.

The teaser’s removal and the release delay are documented; they do not, by themselves, establish what happened to the mod files or whether anyone later obtained them. Read the report on the teaser and delay.
Can you download the mod now?
The cited sources do not verify a current download for the original Pokémon-model mod. Be cautious of pages or videos claiming to offer it: the teaser is not evidence of a public release, and this reporting does not establish the legitimacy, safety, or contents of any download currently advertised elsewhere.

Nexus Mods separately said it was not comfortable hosting Pokémon content in Palworld and that uploads it considered to contain Pokémon-derived characters or assets would be taken down. That is the platform’s moderation decision, not a court ruling on the mod. Nexus Mods’ January 24, 2024 statement sets out its position.
What was “Legally-Distinct Pocket Creatures”?
On January 31, 2024, Nintendo Life reported that ToastedShoes presented a separate project called “Legally-Distinct Pocket Creatures” after the Pokémon mod was taken down. It should not be confused with proof that the original mod, its Pokémon models, or its planned Ash character were released. The sources cited here do not establish the present availability of either project. Nintendo Life’s report covers the separate project.

Returning to Palworld? Check old mods before updating
In a July 9, 2026 report about Palworld’s 1.0 update, PC Gamer relayed Pocketpair’s warning that old mod data could cause crashes, save-data problems, or blocked quest and event progression. The warning particularly called out mods left installed since around 2024; it does not say that this specific Pokémon mod causes those problems.
Pocketpair’s reported guidance was to back up saves, remove relevant old mod data rather than merely disable it, verify the game files, and wait for mod makers to confirm 1.0 compatibility before reinstalling mods. Consult PC Gamer’s July 9, 2026 report for the update-related warning.
