The “no one needs this platform” remark about Xbox was attributed to an unnamed developer at ChinaJoy in 2024—not announced as S-GAME policy. S-GAME later distanced itself from the reported comments and said it had not ruled out any platforms. The available sources do not establish whether an Xbox version is now planned.
What was said about Xbox?
On August 3, 2024, Exputer reported that an unnamed developer associated with Phantom Blade Zero made a dismissive remark about Xbox during ChinaJoy. The outlet rendered the comment as “no one needs this platform.” The report does not name the speaker or provide an independently verified transcript. Exputer’s report
The English wording is not certain. Later discussion suggested the underlying Chinese expression could mean something closer to “no one shows interest in Xbox,” which is less categorical. The sources available do not settle the original wording, so the phrase should not be treated as a confirmed verbatim quote.
How did S-GAME respond?
In a clarification reproduced by the forum site IconEra in August 2024, S-GAME said the reported comments did not represent the studio’s “values or culture.” The statement said the company believed in making the game accessible to everyone and “have not ruled out any platforms for Phantom Blade Zero.” It also described work on development and publishing to reach as many players as possible. IconEra is reproducing the statement; it is not an official S-GAME page. The response nevertheless makes clear that the reported remark should not be read as a formal decision to exclude Xbox.

These sources do not confirm an Xbox version, nor do they establish that one has been cancelled. S-GAME’s 2024 clarification said it had not ruled out platforms, but that is not a confirmation of a specific port or a current release plan.
The same 2024 statement named PS5 and PC plans. Those dated plans should not be treated as a definitive current platform list. For present availability, consult S-GAME’s current official announcements and platform listings; the sources cited here do not establish a current release date or physical retail edition.
