Pokémon Go’s Steeled Resolve event ran from April 28 to May 4, 2026, and has ended. It introduced Orthworm, featured Meltan encounters through the Mystery Box, and overlapped with a Team GO Rocket Taken Over phase from April 30 through May 4. Here’s what the event offered, including its encounter methods, Shadow Pokémon features and expired GO Pass rewards.
When was the Steeled Resolve event?
The event ran from Tuesday, April 28, at 10:00 a.m. through Monday, May 4, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time. The overlapping Steeled Resolve: Taken Over phase ran from Thursday, April 30, at 12:00 a.m. through May 4 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Both event windows have passed.
How could you get Meltan during Steeled Resolve?
The event’s Meltan route was the Mystery Box. The Pokémon GO team explained: “The key to catching Meltan is the Mystery Box, which can be obtained by sending a Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME or the Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee games for Nintendo Switch!” During Steeled Resolve, opening the box could attract a Shiny Meltan if lucky, and the wait before opening it again was reduced for the event. The announcement did not state a Shiny rate.
Meltan was also among the encounters listed as a reward on the event GO Pass. That limited-time track is no longer available, and its unclaimed rewards expired May 6, 2026, at 7:59 p.m. local time.
