To get Chesnaughtite, Delphoxite, or Greninjite in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, play online Ranked Battles in the Z-A Battle Club and earn a rank promotion. The Pokémon Company says these Mega Stones are promotion rewards and cannot normally be obtained through regular gameplay. They are not ordinary post-match rewards or season-end rewards.
How to get the Kalos starter Mega Stones
- Connect to the internet and open the Z-A Battle Club.
- Choose online Ranked Battles, which match you with random players around the world.
- Play until you rise in rank. The Mega Stone for the relevant promotion reward is awarded for rank promotion, according to Pokémon’s official announcement.
The three stones correspond to the Kalos starters: Chesnaughtite for Chesnaught, Delphoxite for Delphox, and Greninjite for Greninja. These Pokémon first appeared in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, released in 2013, according to the same announcement.

Promotion rewards are different from match and season rewards
The Battle Club has private and ranked ways to play. Its official overview separates rewards into three categories: battle rewards after each match, promotion rewards for rising in rank, and season rewards that vary by rank and are distributed at the end of a season. The Kalos starter Mega Stones are specifically promotion rewards—not a guaranteed reward for finishing a match or simply reaching the season end. See the Battle Club overview for the mode and reward categories.
The same overview describes Link Battles as real-time matches with up to four players that last three minutes, with players ranked first through fourth by performance. That is a separate format; the Mega Stone acquisition instruction is to earn promotion rewards in online Ranked Battles.
#1 Best Overall
- Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free.
- As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.
Original reward schedule and what to check now
Pokémon’s announcement on September 12, 2025 listed the initial promotion reward order as follows. This is the original schedule, not confirmation of which season is live on October 8, 2026.
| Original season | Mega Stone | Timing stated in the announcement |
|---|---|---|
| Season 1 | Greninjite | Starting October 16, 2025 |
| Season 2 | Delphoxite | Following Season 1 |
| Season 3 | Chesnaughtite | Following Season 2 |
The announcement said details for Season 4 and later would be shared later. It also said promotion-reward Mega Stones were planned for redistribution in future seasons. Since that schedule was announced, check the current in-game Ranked Battle notices to see which Stone, if any, is available as a promotion reward in the season you are playing.
