When was Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee Spotlight Hour?
The event ran Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time. Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee were the featured Pokémon. Niantic describes Spotlight Hour as an event that highlights a specific Pokémon for one hour (Niantic Help Center).
This is a historical event guide, not an upcoming schedule. The October 2026 Spotlight Hour schedule instead lists Seedot, Elgyem, Stufful, Morelull, and Gastly (October 2026 schedule).
What was the event bonus?
Transferring Pokémon earned 2× Candy during the hour. The bonus applied to transfers, not catches (May 7, 2024 event listing).

Decide what you are willing to transfer before the event, and review each Pokémon before confirming. Do not transfer valuable, rare, or high-IV Pokémon just to make use of the bonus. The event listing establishes the Candy bonus, but not a separate transfer mechanic.
Could Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee be shiny?
The event listing marked both species as shiny-capable. That indicates shiny encounters were possible; it does not establish boosted shiny odds or guarantee a shiny encounter.

How to prepare for a Spotlight Hour
For this event, the practical approach was to make transfer decisions ahead of time and use the hour to catch the featured Pokémon. General Spotlight Hour preparation can also include checking storage space and stocking Poké Balls and berries. Incense and Lure Modules may help increase spawns generally, but they were not the event’s special bonus (Pokémon GO Hub’s Spotlight Hour guide).
