If NBA 2K24 keeps disconnecting you, first check the official NBA 2K server-status page, then test your connection and follow the troubleshooting path for your platform. The official guidance does not identify one universal cause or a guaranteed fix: disconnects can involve the game service, your network, or your console or PC.
Check whether NBA 2K servers are reporting an issue
Start with NBA 2K’s official server-status page. 2K says its status pages help players check for known game-server issues. If the page reports a problem, local router changes are unlikely to address that service-side issue; check the page again for updates. A status listing can change, so it is not evidence that the servers are currently down.

Test your connection before changing settings
2K’s general console networking guide recommends checking whether other devices on the same network can get online, then running your console’s network test. If other devices also lose access, investigate the network connection rather than treating NBA 2K24 as the only affected service.
- Try Ethernet: If possible, connect the console directly to the router with an Ethernet cable and see whether disconnects continue. This is a troubleshooting test, not a guaranteed fix, and it cannot resolve a server-side problem.
- Reduce competing network use: Heavy streaming or downloads on a busy network can contribute to disconnections. Pause them temporarily to see whether the connection changes.
- Restart modem and router: 2K’s guide says to unplug both for 60 seconds, then reconnect them. This is general troubleshooting guidance, not a diagnosis specific to NBA 2K24.
The same guide includes an optional direct-to-modem connection test for Xbox and PlayStation. Treat it as a temporary diagnostic step and restore your usual router setup afterward; do not leave equipment connected in an unintended configuration.

Fully restart and update your console
2K’s console troubleshooting guide recommends fully restarting the console rather than relying only on rest or standby, checking for system updates, and using the platform’s network test. Menu names vary across system generations, so use the instructions for your specific platform in 2K’s guide.
Xbox: test without Quick Resume
2K notes that Quick Resume can sometimes coincide with multiplayer errors. Close NBA 2K24 and test with Quick Resume disabled for the game, following the Xbox steps in 2K’s console troubleshooting guide. If the problem continues, recheck the network and system-update steps rather than assuming Quick Resume was the cause.

On PC, use the PC-specific troubleshooting path
PC players should follow 2K’s separate PC network guidance rather than applying console-only steps. 2K’s PC material covers firewall or antivirus permissions, VPN use, and DNS troubleshooting. If testing a security setting, follow 2K’s temporary-test instructions and restore your protections afterward; do not leave firewall or antivirus protection disabled.
If you play through the Xbox app on PC, 2K’s cache and repair guidance says to check for game updates and, if updating does not resolve the issue, use Verify and repair.

If the checks above do not help, gather the details 2K requests before submitting a support ticket. Capture the exact error text or code in a readable screenshot, and note your platform, the online mode, and what was happening when each disconnect occurred. Also record whether other games or devices on the same network are affected.
