The Razer Kishi Ultra is worth considering if you want a full-sized, wired controller for a compatible USB-C phone or small tablet. Its strongest practical points are broad support for selected devices, physical controls, and a 3.5 mm audio jack; the main trade-offs are that it connects by USB-C rather than wirelessly and some features differ by operating system. Check your exact device and case before buying.
What the Kishi Ultra is—and what this assessment can establish
The Kishi Ultra is a USB-C mobile gaming controller. Razer lists full-sized ergonomics, mecha-tactile action buttons, an 8-way D-pad, Hall effect analog triggers, remappable controls, Chroma RGB lighting, and a 3.5 mm audio connection among its features. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not proof that it outperforms competing controllers or suits every player’s hands.
The title’s first-person wording implies hands-on testing, but no firsthand testing evidence is available here. So this is a buying-fit assessment based on Razer’s current US product information and support materials, with independent context from TechRadar and Android Authority—not a personal-use verdict.
Will it fit your phone or tablet?
Razer’s current US product page lists support for iPhone 15 and 16 families, iPad mini (6th generation) and iPad mini (A17 Pro), and Android devices running Android 12 or later. It also lists Android tablets up to 8 inches. Razer Support additionally names Samsung Galaxy S23-series phones, Google Pixel 6, 7, and 8 phones, and the Razer Edge, among other Android devices. These lists are not a guarantee for every device in a family; confirm your precise model against Razer’s current compatibility information before purchasing.

| Device or platform | Compatibility information | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone | iPhone 15 and 16 families (Razer US product page) | USB-C connection; this is not a Lightning model. |
| iPad mini | 6th generation and A17 Pro (Razer US product page) | Check the exact model and physical fit. |
| Android phones | Android 12 or later (Razer US product page); named examples include Galaxy S23 series and Pixel 6/7/8 (Razer Support) | Individual-device compatibility can vary; verify the exact model. |
| Android tablets | Up to 8 inches (Razer US product page) | Size alone does not establish fit for every tablet. |
| Windows 11 | Razer Support lists connection by USB-C cable | This is a wired connection, not wireless support. |
TechRadar’s review also reports compatibility with a sixth-generation iPad mini and some small Android tablets. Razer’s product guide contains an older, narrower named-device list, so use the live product page and support information as the more current references.
Will you need to remove your phone case?
Razer says most popular phone cases work, but a case that covers the phone’s USB port may prevent connection. The controller’s rubber cushions can be changed or removed to adjust fit. That does not make every case compatible: check whether the port remains accessible and whether the phone sits securely in the grips.

How does it connect, and what does that mean for play?
The controller connects directly through USB-C. Android Authority describes the Kishi Ultra as lacking wireless support and a Lightning version. That makes it a poor fit if wireless play or an older Lightning-only iPhone is a requirement. For a compatible USB-C device, the wired design avoids relying on a separate wireless pairing step, but your phone must physically connect to the controller.
Which features work across platforms?
Razer lists the controller’s physical controls, remapping, Chroma RGB, and 3.5 mm audio among its features. Its Sensa HD Haptics feature has an explicit platform limit: Razer says it requires Android 12 or later or Windows 11 and is not currently supported on iOS. Do not assume an iPhone provides the same haptic experience as a supported Android or Windows setup.

What does the Nexus app do?
Razer says its free Nexus app can discover and launch games, customize controls, record and share gameplay, and update the controller. The app has no fee or subscription requirement, but some apps accessible within it may cost money or require subscriptions; the app’s price does not make those games or services free.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who is the Kishi Ultra a good fit for?
- Consider it if your device appears on Razer’s current compatibility information, uses USB-C, and you want a controller-style layout with physical controls and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
- Check carefully first if you use a phone case, a tablet near the stated size limit, or a device not named in the current compatibility information.
- Look elsewhere if you need wireless connectivity, a Lightning connection, or iOS support for Sensa HD Haptics.
Razer’s feature list makes the Kishi Ultra a substantial option on paper, but compatibility and connection style are the concrete decision points. Without hands-on testing or a verified comparison against specific alternatives, it would be misleading to call it one of the best controllers overall.
