Its developers cancelled the planned launch after saying they encountered a Steam policy issue they could not reasonably resolve with the current version of the game. They did not disclose the specific rule or content at issue, so claims about the precise reason remain unconfirmed.
What happened to BrownDust2 on Steam?
BrownDust2 had been scheduled to launch on Steam on December 16, 2025. On December 9, the developers—GAMFS N and NEOWIZ—announced that the release would not go ahead. PC Gamer reported the announcement and quoted the developers’ notice.
“We have been preparing for a Steam launch for a long time, but during coordination with the platform’s policy requirements, we encountered an issue that cannot be reasonably resolved with the current version of the game.”
The developers said they had considered ways to make the release possible, but concluded that the necessary adjustments would not be appropriate if they compromised the game’s core direction and overall quality. They therefore decided not to proceed with a Steam release.

The word “delisted” can be misleading here: it often describes a game that launched and was later removed. BrownDust2’s planned Steam release was cancelled before launch. SteamDB’s record for Steam app 3938980 identifies it as prerelease and says it had not yet been released. SteamDB is an independent tracking service, not Valve.
Why was the release cancelled?
The developers’ public explanation was a conflict with Steam’s policy requirements that they said could not reasonably be resolved in the current version. They did not name a particular policy, scene, character, or other content that triggered the issue. Explanations more specific than the developers’ statement are speculation, not confirmed reasons.

What happened to the Steam page and its rewards?
After the cancellation became public, the Steam page and community access were initially restricted, according to Dot Esports’ account of the announcement. The developers also said that promised community-event and wishlist milestone rewards would still be distributed after the December 16 update.
Before the cancellation, PC Gamer reported that the campaign had passed 200,000 Steam wishlists, citing the developers’ milestone announcement. That is a historical campaign figure, not a current wishlist total.
