The strongest talisman in Monster Hunter Wilds is the one that improves your specific build, not a single universal best roll. Monster Hunter HQ highlights four desirable rarity-8 combinations: Attack Boost with Weakness Exploit, Critical Eye with Weakness Exploit, and a mix of Critical Boost, Handicraft, and Critical Eye. Treat them as promising examples—not a verified current meta ranking.
Which talisman effects are worth chasing?
Monster Hunter HQ’s guide identifies these rarity-8 combinations as standouts. They are examples of useful rolls, not a ranking from strongest to weakest:
- Attack Boost Lv. 3 + Weakness Exploit Lv. 1
- Critical Eye Lv. 3 + Weakness Exploit Lv. 1
- Attack Boost Lv. 2 + Critical Eye Lv. 1 + Weakness Exploit Lv. 1
- Critical Boost Lv. 1 + Handicraft Lv. 1 + Critical Eye Lv. 1
These are offensive skill combinations, but a skill’s name alone does not make a talisman valuable. The same roll can be excellent for one weapon and redundant for another. Compare what each roll does for the finished set, rather than counting its skills or choosing the highest rarity automatically.

- Build fit: Does the talisman support the weapon and playstyle you actually use?
- Useful skill levels: Does it add levels your armor and decorations do not already provide, or does your build already have enough?
- Slot value: Are its armor-skill or weapon-skill decoration slots compatible with the set you want to make?
- Opportunity cost: Would another talisman let you use stronger armor or decorations elsewhere in the build?
- Availability: Is the roll a practical improvement, or an unusually rare chase?
For example, a roll that takes a skill to a needed level can be more valuable than one that adds levels to a skill your armor already supplies. A compatible decoration slot can also preserve flexibility, even if another roll looks stronger on its skill list.
How Appraised Talismans work
In Capcom’s Ver. 1.021 update notes, 9-star monster quests reward Glowing Stones. On appraisal, a Glowing Stone becomes an Appraised Talisman with randomly assigned skills. These talismans can have armor skills, weapon skills, and decoration slots, and cannot be upgraded. The same update places the 9-star monster unlock at Hunter Rank 100 or higher. That makes talisman hunting a randomized endgame pursuit rather than a craft-to-order upgrade path. Monster Hunter HQ describes unwanted talismans being exchanged for points at Vio’s Melding Pot in Suja, which can be used toward further talisman rolls. The official route is to complete quests featuring 9-star monsters, which reward Glowing Stones for appraisal. These monsters become available at HR 100 or higher, according to Capcom’s Ver. 1.021 notes. Monster Hunter HQ also describes using Vio’s Melding Pot in Suja to turn unwanted talismans into points for additional rolls, along with Silver Talisman Tickets from limited bounties.
