Palworld’s cross-play update launched on 19 March 2025, letting players play with friends across platforms. The important caveat is that cross-play support depends on multiplayer mode: Pocketpair’s version 0.5.0 server guide says co-op cross-play is available, but its documented dedicated-server setup does not support PS5 cross-play. So “all platforms” is not a guarantee that every platform pairing works in every mode.
Can you play Palworld with friends on different platforms?
Yes, Palworld supports cross-platform play, but the available official information does not confirm every platform pairing for every multiplayer mode. Pocketpair announced the cross-play update on 19 March 2025, saying, “You can now play with friends across various platforms!” (Pocketpair’s announcement).
Pocketpair currently lists Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the App Store as Palworld platforms (Palworld’s official product page). That list establishes where the game is available, not a complete compatibility matrix showing which two platforms can play together in each mode.
Does cross-play work differently in co-op and server play?
Yes. Pocketpair’s version 0.5.0 server guide distinguishes co-op from dedicated and community servers. It says co-op cross-play is available, while PS5 cross-play is unavailable on the dedicated-server setup described in that guide. The guide also says Xbox or PS5 players who want to join a server need it to be deployed as a community server (Pocketpair’s server guide).

The guide is versioned, so its server-specific details should not be treated as a live compatibility chart for every later build. It does, however, make clear why “cross-play” alone does not answer whether a particular group can join the same persistent world.
What is the difference between a dedicated server and a community server?
A dedicated server runs independently of the host’s game client, according to Pocketpair’s guide. A community server is identified by appearing in the in-game server list. The server type matters when choosing how to play together, particularly if someone in the group is on PS5 or Xbox.
If your group is deciding between a hosted co-op session and a persistent server, first identify the mode you plan to use, then check whether the platform combination is supported for that mode. The official materials cited here do not provide exact joining steps or confirm every current combination.
How many players can play together?
Steam’s Palworld listing describes online co-op for up to four players and dedicated servers for up to 32 players (Steam store listing). Those are the capacities stated by Steam; they should not be read as universal limits for every platform or server configuration.

No. The 19 March 2025 date is when Pocketpair announced the cross-play update, not Palworld’s full release date. Steam’s current listing gives 9 July 2026 as the full release date and also identifies cross-platform multiplayer as a feature. The listing’s release information is separate from the update announcement.
