It was a wearable platform that combined resistance bands, motion tracking, haptic feedback and controllers with the game Shardfall—not simply an exercise app. Quell says a membership is no longer required to play Shardfall, but the discontinuation notice does not establish whether systems, replacement parts or ongoing support are available.
What is Quell Impact?
Quell Impact was a dedicated fitness-gaming platform designed to pair physical movement with gameplay. Quell describes a wearable system built around a belt and resistance bands, handheld controllers and a chest pod, with motion recognition, haptics, heart-rate tracking and performance feedback. Its setup instructions also refer to charging hardware and a USB-C cable. Quell’s Impact and hardware page and its description of the system outline those components.
In practice, the system was intended to make exercise movements part of playing Shardfall. Quell describes running, jumping, squatting, chest presses and punches—including hooks, jabs and uppercuts—as part of its fitness gameplay. These are the manufacturer’s descriptions of intended activities, not evidence that every player receives the same training load or results. Quell’s fitness page also advertises more than 600 kcal burned per hour; that is a vendor claim, and the page does not provide a measurement protocol or independent validation.
Is Quell Impact discontinued?
Yes. Quell’s getting-started page explicitly says, “The Impact has been discontinued by Quell.” That notice is the clearest status information available in Quell’s setup material. A product page may still show an “Order now” button, but that alone does not establish current availability.

Discontinuation does not tell you whether a used system or particular component is currently listed by a third-party seller. Current marketplace inventory, authorized sellers, replacement-part availability, software updates and continuing customer support have not been established here. If considering a used unit, confirm what is included and whether it can be set up before purchasing; do not assume bands or other replacement parts are available or that generic bands will work.
Do you need a subscription to play Shardfall?
Quell says on its getting-started page that “A membership is no longer required to play Shardfall.” That statement applies to playing Shardfall as described by Quell; it does not establish the terms for other services, future support or any other game.

What equipment and computer do you need?
Quell’s product page lists the following minimum computer requirements. They are manufacturer-posted specifications, not a guarantee of compatibility with every current computer or software configuration.
| Platform | Quell’s listed minimum | Other listed requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | Windows 10; Intel Core i3-8100, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U or equivalent; 8 GB RAM | USB port and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi |
| Mac | macOS Big Sur 11; MacBook Pro 15-inch, mid-2017 or later; 8 GB RAM | USB port and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi |
Quell also lists recommended configurations separately. Check the manufacturer’s requirements against your specific computer and setup rather than treating the minimums as a current compatibility guarantee.

Resistance levels and belt fit
Quell lists three resistance-band levels: Level 1 at 20 lb, Level 2 at 40 lb and Level 3 at 60 lb. Its page connects the choice to training experience and goals. Belt fit is based on upper-waist circumference ranges, so use Quell’s sizing guide rather than guessing from clothing size. If buying second-hand, check the exact listing for the belt, bands, controllers, chest pod and charging items; the manufacturer’s component list does not confirm what a particular seller includes.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is known about the system’s results?
Quell presents Impact as a way to combine resistance-based, full-body movement with gaming and promotes a calorie-burn figure of more than 600 kcal per hour. That number is marketing from Quell; the cited product material does not state how it was measured, and no independent clinical or exercise-science evaluation of Quell Impact is established here. Treat the advertised figure as unverified, not as a prediction of an individual player’s workout.

Those figures describe the campaign, not current sales, active users or the number of systems still in use. Kickstarter’s campaign page provides that history.
