When it is checked, hold Ctrl while dragging the tracker. If it still will not move, try the alternate drag instructions below, check whether another addon controls the frame, or reset its position with cleartracker.
Check the Lock Tracker setting first
- Type
/questiein chat to open Questie options. This is useful if the minimap button is missing; the command is listed in Questie’s FAQ. - Open the Tracker section and find Lock Tracker.
- If the option is checked, hold Ctrl while dragging the tracker. Questie’s current tracker options code says: “If checked, the Questie Tracker is locked and you need to hold CTRL when you want to move it.”
If the option is unchecked and a normal drag does not work, try holding Ctrl while dragging anyway. Questie’s official FAQ pages do not give a single consistent gesture: one says “Hold down CTRL + Shift + Hold Left Mouse Button + Drag,” while another says “Ctrl + left click.” The current tracker setting confirms Ctrl for a locked tracker, but the documentation does not establish which releases or game clients the FAQ instructions apply to. Use the instructions as version-sensitive alternatives rather than assuming one gesture works in every setup.
If dragging still does nothing
Try a different part of the tracker
Drag from an objective line or quest-item area inside the Questie frame instead of directly on the quest text. One player reported that Ctrl-clicking and dragging a quest item worked. This is a community workaround, not an official universal fix.
Check addons that move frames
If you use an addon that repositions or controls interface frames, temporarily inspect its controls for Questie. A player reported that MoveAnything was controlling the stuck frame and moving it through that addon resolved their issue. Treat this as a possible lead, not proof that MoveAnything—or another addon—is the cause in your setup.

Reset the tracker to the center
Questie’s FAQ lists cleartracker as a way to reset the QuestTracker position. It returns the tracker to the center of the screen; it does not place it at a chosen edge or corner. After resetting, drag it to the location you want.
Report a persistent problem with useful details
If none of these steps works, Questie’s bug-reporting guidance asks users to read the FAQ and provide reproducible steps, screenshots, or exact error text. Include these details so others can distinguish a tracker-setting issue from a client- or addon-specific one:

- Your WoW client and version, plus your Questie version.
- Your operating system and input setup.
- Any other addons that can move or control interface frames.
- Whether Lock Tracker is checked, and the exact modifier keys and mouse gesture you tried.
- What happened after each attempt, with a screenshot or exact error text if available.
Questie’s wiki lists support for Classic Era, Season of Discovery, Wrath of the Lich King Classic, and Cataclysm Classic, but the official sources do not provide a release-by-release or platform-specific movement matrix. Check your installed versions when reporting a problem rather than assuming tracker behavior is identical across clients and releases.
