What is Dustborn?
Quantic Dream describes Dustborn as “a single-player, story-driven action-adventure game about hope, love, friendships, robots…and the power of words.” It combines road-trip storytelling with exploration, dialogue, crew relationships, combat and music performances. The game is not an upcoming announcement: it launched on August 20, 2024.
Who made it, and when did it come out?
Oslo-based Red Thread Games developed Dustborn, and Quantic Dream published it. The June 8, 2024 preorder announcement came from Spotlight by Quantic Dream and named August 20, 2024 as the release date. Quantic Dream listed a recommended launch price of €29.99 / $29.99; that is historical launch pricing, not a statement of the game’s current price.
What platforms is Dustborn on?
Quantic Dream lists the game for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S/X and Xbox One. Its PC listings include Steam and the Epic Games Store. The publisher store also has a product listing with platform selection, but current price and stock can vary by retailer and platform.

What is the story?
Pax is an exile and con artist tasked with transporting a package from Pacifica to Nova Scotia through a divided, authoritarian alternate-history American Republic. She travels with a recruited crew that poses as a punk-rock band to stay undercover. The journey brings the group into contact with residents and challenges that involve both the people Pax meets and the relationships among her companions.
How does the gameplay work?
The publisher’s feature description connects exploration, conversation, crew abilities, language-based powers and band rehearsals. It describes how these systems work, but does not establish how much time a player will spend in each activity.

Explore, investigate and use the crew
Players explore and investigate locations, talk with residents and call on crew members to overcome obstacles. The crew is part of the adventure’s practical problem-solving as well as its relationship-driven story.
Use Shouts and Vox
Pax can craft Shouts for combat and Vox to influence conversations. The language abilities therefore apply both to confrontations and to attempts to sway people during dialogue.

Make choices and manage relationships
Branching dialogue choices shape relationships and affect how crew members feel about themselves and one another. Those choices give conversations a role beyond exchanging information: they also influence the group’s interpersonal dynamics.
Fight and perform
Combat examples in Quantic Dream’s description include swinging a baseball bat and throwing Molotov cocktails from a motorbike. The band is another recurring part of the premise: the crew rehearses and performs while using its punk-rock identity as cover. Steam’s publisher listing describes a soundtrack with in-game performances by The Dust Born and score tracks by Simon Poole.

Quantic Dream’s current official game page lists the following ratings and language details:
- Ratings: PEGI 16, ESRB M and USK 12. Ratings differ by regional classification system.
- Voice-over: English.
- Subtitles: English, German, Simplified Chinese, French, Japanese, Russian, Italian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Latin American Spanish and Norwegian.
