Ubisoft acknowledged an incident affecting Rainbow Six Siege on December 27, 2025, and temporarily took the game and Marketplace offline. Players reported unusual account activity, including unexpected currencies, items and ban messages. Ubisoft later said the rollback was complete, inventories had been restored, and its ongoing investigation had found no indication that personal data or source code was compromised. That is Ubisoft’s reported finding—not a published, independently verified account of the incident’s technical scope.

What happened in the Rainbow Six Siege incident?

On December 27, 2025, Ubisoft publicly acknowledged an incident affecting Rainbow Six Siege. Its initial statement, reproduced in a contemporaneous status compilation, said: “We’re aware of an incident currently affecting Rainbow Six Siege. Our teams are working on a resolution.” Rainbow Six status timeline

Players began reporting anomalies across platforms that day. Reports included unusually large Renown and R6 Credits balances, unexpected items, and ban or unban activity appearing in the game’s ban ticker. PC Gamer also described player reports of currency, rare or developer-only cosmetics, and ban-related activity. These were reports about in-game accounts and values; descriptions such as “billions” were not verified measurements of money or proof of a particular attacker’s capabilities. Ubisoft’s later Year 11 update called the event a cyberattack. The available official statements do not identify a verified attacker or explain the technical entry point or exact backend access. Ubisoft’s Year 11 player-protection update

What did Ubisoft do, and when did Siege return?

Date and time (UTC) Update
December 27, 2025, 2:10 p.m. Ubisoft acknowledged an incident and said its teams were working on a resolution. Status timeline
December 27, 2025, 3:51 p.m. Ubisoft said Siege and the Marketplace had been intentionally shut down while it worked on the issue. It said a rollback of transactions since 11:00 UTC was underway. Status timeline
December 28, 2025 Ubisoft said rollback work and quality-control testing were in progress, without promising a completion time. Status timeline
December 29, 2025 After live tests, Ubisoft reopened the game to all players and said the rollback was complete. The Marketplace remained closed at that point. Status timeline

The December 29 update said players who had not logged in during the affected period should see no inventory changes. A small percentage of players who had connected could temporarily lose access to some owned items while follow-up investigations and corrections continued. This was the recovery status reported at the time, not a current statement about Marketplace availability.

Could players be banned for spending incident credits?

No. Ubisoft said players would not be banned for spending credits received during the incident. The rollback was intended to reverse transactions made during the affected period, rather than punish players for using those credits. Ubisoft also said the ban ticker had been turned off previously and that messages appearing there were not triggered by Ubisoft. Status timeline

Did Ubisoft restore inventories, and was player data stolen?

In its February 2026 Year 11 player-protection update, Ubisoft said: “Following the recent cyberattack, player inventories were restored. While we are continuing our investigation, there is no indication that players’ personal data or any source code was compromised.” Ubisoft’s Year 11 player-protection update

This is Ubisoft’s account of its findings at that time. The statement says the investigation was continuing, so it should not be treated as a final forensic report or proof that every detail of the incident is known. The sources cited here do not establish a final technical scope or confirm that data was stolen.
