Spoilers: The ranking below names major enemies, locations, and encounter mechanics. Our pick for the hardest boss in Resident Evil Requiem is Mr. X, also known as the Super Tyrant: his fight combines tight parry timing, punishing mistakes, and a brief attack window around his exposed heart. That is an editorial judgment, not a measured consensus. The order weighs how costly a missed reaction is, arena space and mobility, timing demands, resource pressure, vulnerability windows, and extra hazards or enemies. Your difficulty setting, upgrades, supplies, and comfort with parries can change which fight feels hardest.
1. Mr. X / Super Tyrant
Mr. X earns the top spot because the fight asks Leon to react accurately while leaving little room for a mistake. WatchMojo places him first in its own hardest-boss ranking, citing demanding parry windows and the damage he can deal; GameSpot’s encounter guide details the attacks behind that assessment.
What makes the fight difficult
Parry his rush with Leon’s hatchet, watch for him to throw a vehicle when he moves near or onto a car, and attack the exposed heart in his chest. You need to recognize the attack, respond at the right moment, and make use of the vulnerable target. A missed reaction can be costly, while the heart gives you a specific target to prioritize.
2. The Commander
The Commander is a close-combat reading test rather than a straightforward damage race. WatchMojo ranks him second and calls attention to his feints and smoke, which make his movements harder to read. GameSpot’s walkthrough describes timed parries as the way to stagger him.
#1 Best Overall
- Amazon Exclusive - 2 sided poster included in every game!
- Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst who is introverted and easily scared, representing a new type of character for the Resident Evil series. Grace will experience horror from the same perspective as the player as she learns to overcome her fears throughout the course of the story.
- For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
Why his attacks are difficult to read
As the fight progresses, smoke and a steam vent can obscure his movement. If he grabs Leon, a quick-time event follows. The challenge is to wait for a real opening and react to what he does, rather than assume every apparent attack is committed. That makes him especially troublesome if you struggle with parry timing or lose track of him in the obscured arena.
3. Blister Borne
Blister Borne rounds out the top three because it combines target selection with added pressure from its surroundings. WatchMojo highlights the first encounter’s limited room and two Blister Heads. GameSpot identifies the tumors covering the creature as weak points and explains how they affect nearby downed infected.
Weak points and nearby threats
Shoot the tumors; shotgun blasts can rupture them, and a melee strike can work after the creature is staggered. Ruptured tumors can cause nearby downed infected to reanimate and mutate, so positioning and target priority matter alongside damage. Tight space and extra enemies make it harder to focus solely on the boss.

Other major encounters worth considering
This is a selective ranking, not a claim that every enemy called a boss belongs in one universally agreed category. GameSpot’s walkthrough covers several other significant encounters, but the available ranking evidence does not establish that they outrank the three above.
Titan Spinner
Leon must keep moving as the spider pursues him and relocates around the NF Building. Spiderlings can leap onto and immobilize him, turning movement and awareness of smaller enemies into central demands. It is a strong mobility challenge, though it is not placed above the top three in WatchMojo’s ranking.
Victor
Victor’s fight has two phases: tentacle attacks, a ground-marked electrical hazard, and a follow-up leap come first; a Nemesis-like form with glowing pustules follows. The encounter depends on which ending you choose, so it is not a single identical fight for every playthrough.

- TAKE ACTION AS LEON S. KENNEDY — Dive into pulse-pounding action with legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy as the two protagonists’ journeys collide.
The Girl
The Girl is a recurring stalker encounter built around evasion and environmental light, rather than a conventional arena boss fight. GameSpot describes a later opportunity to eliminate her at the Water Treatment Facility. Whether to include her in a boss ranking depends on whether you count pursuit encounters alongside arena fights.
Chunk
Chunk appears in encounters for both Grace and Leon. GameSpot emphasizes narrow spaces and opportunities to use the route to your advantage; the tactics differ by character. Those variations make the encounters notable, but the available ranking source does not place Chunk above the three ranked bosses.

Plant 43
Plant 43 has a central bulb and side tendrils. The encounter calls for lateral dodging, then shooting the revealed fuel tanks. It rewards movement and timing, but the available evidence does not support labeling it one of the game’s hardest fights.

- Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst who is introverted and easily scared, representing a new type of character for the Resident Evil series. Grace will experience horror from the same perspective as the player as she learns to overcome her fears throughout the course of the story.

Zeno
GameSpot describes Leon battling Zeno in a cutscene for the other ending. Because this is a scripted encounter rather than a standard playable boss fight, it should not be treated as directly comparable to fights where the player controls the action.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to interpret the ranking
Resident Evil Requiem is Capcom’s ninth main series installment and was released on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, according to Capcom’s release announcement. The encounter details here come from GameSpot’s boss walkthrough; the top-three ordering is an editorial assessment informed by, but not presented as consensus with, WatchMojo’s hardest-boss list.
Neither source provides controlled difficulty measurements, player failure rates, or a comparison across difficulty settings. The ranking is therefore best read as a practical assessment of the encounter demands described above—not a promise that every player will find the fights equally hard.
