What is Control 2 called?
The sequel is titled CONTROL Resonant. Remedy revealed it on December 12, 2025, with a trailer debuting at The Game Awards. The studio describes it as an action-adventure RPG and a larger, more open entry in the Control universe. Remedy’s reveal announcement

When did Control Resonant come out, and where can you play it?
CONTROL Resonant launched worldwide on September 24, 2026. PlayStation’s release information gives New Zealand a September 25 date. As of October 8, 2026, Remedy lists the game as out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, and GeForce NOW. Who do you play as, and what is the story setup?
You play as Dylan Faden, Jesse Faden’s brother, who appeared as a supporting character in the first Control. In the sequel, Dylan is deployed by the Federal Bureau of Control into a crisis that is warping Manhattan. Jesse is missing, and Dylan’s search for her unfolds amid a new form of resonance, the Hiss, and the Mold. Remedy’s launch announcement
The premise connects the sequel to the first game’s characters and supernatural mythology, but keeps the focus on Dylan’s journey through the transformed city. Remedy’s reveal also frames the story as a new entry point rather than a continuation that requires prior knowledge.

Do you need to play Control first?
No. Remedy and PlayStation say CONTROL Resonant can be experienced on its own. Mikael Kasurinen, Remedy’s co-creative director, put it plainly in the PlayStation.Blog reveal post: “You don’t need to have played the first Control to experience Resonant.” Returning players may recognize characters, threats, and lore, but the first game is not a prerequisite. How do the setting and combat work?

The game is set across large, distinct areas of Manhattan altered by paranatural forces. Remedy’s gameplay announcement describes side activities, hidden encounters, optional discoveries, and “Gravity Anomalies,” where gravity and orientation can shift. Fight with the Aberrant and Dylan’s abilities
Dylan’s central weapon, the Aberrant, transforms between forms, including a heavy two-handed hammer and swift dual blades. Remedy also describes evolving supernatural powers, weapon upgrades, abilities, and buffs. PlayStation says the game supports multiple combat styles and different approaches to exploration, allowing players to develop Dylan and tackle encounters in their preferred way.
