FBC: Firebreak is a three-player cooperative first-person shooter set inside the strange Federal Bureau of Control from Control. Remedy Entertainment released it on June 17, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It remains playable online, but Remedy says its March 2026 Open House update was the game’s last major content update.
What is FBC: Firebreak?
FBC: Firebreak is a co-op PvE shooter and a side entry in the Control universe, not a direct sequel to Control. Players take on Jobs as members of the Federal Bureau of Control, the agency at the center of Remedy’s supernatural setting. Remedy describes it as a three-player game and its first self-published title; the company’s 2025 annual report says it owns the intellectual property. Remedy’s release announcement

Can you play FBC: Firebreak solo?
Yes. Remedy’s FAQ says solo matchmaking is possible, but the game has no AI teammates. Jobs scale to the number of players, yet Remedy warns that solo play is challenging. It is designed primarily around cooperation, so going alone means taking on the Job without human squadmates. Remedy Support FAQ

Does FBC: Firebreak support cross-play and cross-progression?
Cross-play is supported between PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so players on different listed platforms can play together. Cross-progression is not: Remedy’s FAQ says progress remains tied to the platform account. Voice chat is also available across platforms, following Remedy’s later announcement; an older FAQ statement that there was no in-game chat has been superseded. How Friend’s Pass works
Friend’s Pass gives an owner a way to invite up to two friends using the free trial version, making a full three-player group possible without every invitee buying the game. Invited players can access gameplay and progression while they are in the owner’s lobby, but they cannot start or create their own lobbies. Remedy says the feature works across platforms. What changed in the final major update?
Remedy’s Open House update, announced March 17, 2026, added Control-inspired arenas for Endless Shift, balance and gameplay improvements, cross-platform voice chat and Friend’s Pass. Remedy calls it the last major content update and says no further playable content will be added. The studio says the game will stay online and playable for years to come and may receive patches if needed; this is Remedy’s stated commitment, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service. Availability and prices depend on platform, region and subscription eligibility. Remedy’s March 2026 announcement set permanent list prices, while platform listings can differ or change. The US PlayStation listing accessed October 8, 2026 showed a $19.99 standard purchase, a Deluxe edition, Extra catalog access and a free trial for invited friends.
