Deadpool on PS4 is most enjoyable when its irreverent writing and willingness to turn jokes into playable genre parodies are doing the heavy lifting. Its action is responsive but uneven, and the campaign is relatively short. Newcomers who want a humor-first action game are the best fit; returning players get little reason to revisit this port.
What is Deadpool on PS4?
This is the PS4 port of the earlier Deadpool game, not a new mainline sequel. Activision’s PlayStation Store listing identifies it as an action game released on November 17, 2015, describing a third-person action-shooter with melee and ranged weapons and DLC from earlier versions included.

How does it play?
Combat and movement
You switch between katanas, guns, explosives, and combos. Push Square’s PS4 review describes responsive movement alongside swordplay, gunplay, platforming, and teleportation. There is variety in the toolset, but the combat does not sustain the same interest as the character’s commentary.
The jokes change the format
The game’s humor is not confined to dialogue. It periodically shifts into parody formats, including first-person shooter, 2D side-scroller, and top-down roguelike-style sections. These changes give the campaign welcome surprises and make the jokes part of the play, rather than merely interruptions between fights.

Does the humor carry the game?
Mostly, yes. Deadpool’s fourth-wall breaks, slapstick, and self-aware jokes are the clearest reason to play. The voice performance helps sell the character’s chaotic tone, while the genre-switching sections keep the campaign from feeling entirely routine. That commitment is also a matter of taste: if Deadpool’s style does not appeal to you, the familiar action-game structure beneath it is unlikely to compensate.
Push Square reviewer Sam Brooke’s conclusion was that “the hilarious jokes, varied gameplay, and stellar voice acting ensure that you’ll have a good time.” The review’s written verdict was “Good 7/10.”

How long is it, and is there much to do afterward?
Push Square estimated the campaign at around seven hours, depending on difficulty. A wave-based arena mode is also included, but the review found it forgettable. Once the campaign is over, replay value is limited: the main attraction is the writing, and its jokes lose some of their surprise the second time around.
Is the PS4 port worth it for returning players?
Push Square describes the PS4 release as a straight port, without new modes or extras. That leaves little additional appeal for someone who has already played the game on another platform. Brooke put it plainly: “If you’ve already played Deadpool on previous platforms then there’s no real reason to revisit it.”

Metacritic’s PS4 critic page lists a 60 Metascore from 11 reviews and classifies the result as “Mixed or Average.” That is an aggregator summary, not a universal measure of quality; the recurring reservations include repetitive play and minimal improvements in the port.

Common Sense Media’s parent guide likewise flags hyperviolent content, strong language, and sexual material.

Verdict: should you play Deadpool on PS4?
Play it if you are new to the game, enjoy Deadpool’s humor, and want a short action campaign with some entertaining changes of format. The writing, performance, and parody sections provide the strongest moments; repetitive combat and modest replay value are the trade-offs. If you have already played it, the PS4 version’s lack of new modes or extras makes a return difficult to recommend. Whether it is worth buying now depends on its current price and availability, which vary and are not established here.
