What the official feature announcements say is new
San Diego Studio’s February 4, 2025 announcement highlights a reworked Road to the Show opening and new Diamond Dynasty activities. Nintendo’s Switch listing also advertises Impact Plays in Road to the Show, GOAT difficulty, Ambush Hitting, faster online gameplay, and hundreds of new animations. These are announced features, not independent assessments of how well they work or how much they improve the game.

Road to the Show starts before the pros
The announced Road to the Show path begins with two to three high-school games, followed by three to four college games, before continuing into player development. That structure gives a created player a longer lead-in before professional baseball. Whether those early games make a career feel more engaging or simply delay the main progression depends on how the mode plays; the official description alone cannot settle that.
Nintendo lists Impact Plays as another Road to the Show addition. Its listing does not explain enough to judge their effect on pacing or player development, so treat the feature’s presence separately from any claim that the mode is substantially better.

Diamond Dynasty adds activities, with online requirements
Diamond Quest is described by San Diego Studio as a risk-and-reward, board-game-like Diamond Dynasty mode. Weekend Classic is presented as a competitive mode. These additions give team-building players new activities to consider, but feature descriptions do not show how satisfying or balanced they are in practice.
The official MLB The Show 25 feature guide says an internet connection is required for every Diamond Dynasty sub-mode. It also lists platform-subscription requirements for some online modes, which vary by platform. Check the current console-store terms and the guide’s requirements for the mode you intend to play; access conditions should not be assumed to be identical across consoles.

Is MLB The Show 25 worth buying?
The available official material supports a clear description of the launch platforms and announced mode changes, but not a review verdict on gameplay quality. It cannot establish whether hitting, pitching, fielding, franchise play, graphics, or performance are better than in earlier games. If those qualities are the deciding factors, seek a hands-on review for your preferred platform rather than treating publisher feature claims as proof.
