The Rocket Zonai Device produces a powerful but brief burst of thrust. Attach it to a build with Ultrahand when you need a quick push or launch; it burns out quickly, so one Rocket is not a sustained flight engine.
What does the Rocket Zonai Device do?
The in-game item description reproduced by Kiranico calls it “A Zonai device that produces powerful thrust. It packs a punch but burns out quickly.” The key practical point is the short burn: plan for an immediate boost, not prolonged propulsion.
How do you use a Rocket?
Attach it to a build with Ultrahand
- Use Ultrahand to pick up the Rocket and position it against the object or vehicle you want to move.
- Join the objects. Nintendo describes Ultrahand as the ability to pick up, move, rotate, and attach objects together, including to make vehicles; its guide confirms that objects grabbed with Ultrahand can be joined.
- Activate the build when you are ready for the burst of thrust. Since the Rocket burns out quickly, arrange the build and get into position before relying on it.
This works best when the goal is a quick movement or launch. Do not count on a single Rocket to keep a flying machine aloft over a long distance.
Rocket attached to a shield
Fuse can attach an object to Link’s equipped shield or weapon, and it can also apply to arrows. A Rocket-on-shield launch is a gameplay example of that general mechanic, but Nintendo’s cited guides do not give a Rocket-specific procedure or establish an exact launch height, duration, or result. Treat the effect as a brief burst rather than a dependable way to travel far.

Where can you find Rockets?
Rockets can be found in the world or obtained from Zonai Device Dispensers. A capsule is consumed when opened, and a dispenser gives devices randomly from its own pool rather than letting you select a specific device.
A 2023 Nintendo Life guide lists Rocket dispensers at West Hebra Sky, Hudson Construction Site, and Construct Factory in the Depths. These are guide-reported locations, not a guarantee that the list is exhaustive or unchanged in every game version.

Rank #3
- The Legend of Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom
Rank #2
- Ultrahand: Using the new Ultrahand ability, Link can pick up, move, and rotate almost any object, and can even attach objects together to create bridges, vehicles, and more!
- Fuse: Magically fuse almost any object to Link’s current weapon, shield, or arrow to increase durability, damage, or even add a new effect. Experiment with lots of different combinations to come up with surprising—and sometimes hilarious—results!
- Ascend: Add a new dimension to your exploration with Ascend, which gives Link the ability to pass through solid objects above him. Rise up through ceilings, hillsides, and even certain enemies to create seemingly impossible shortcuts.
- Recall: Use Recall to make objects in motion move backward through time, letting Link ride fallen boulders skyward, recover thrown weapons, or send projectiles back where they came from.
When is a Rocket useful?
- Quick movement: Add thrust for an immediate push or launch.
- Offence: Use the short burst to move a build into position for an attack.
- Not sustained flight: The Rocket’s brief operation makes it a poor choice as the sole power source for a long journey.
