It adds two artifacts—Delusion and Devotion—a new stage called Verdant Falls, and a Dead Cells-themed Mercenary skin, alongside several bug fixes. The announcement says the update includes content for both the base game and Survivors of the Void.
What the Devotion Update adds
- Artifact of Delusion: Resets purchased chests after a teleporter event, giving players a chance to identify and reclaim the original pickup.
- Artifact of Devotion: Replaces drones with eggs that trade an item for a Lemurian companion; surviving teleporter events evolves the companions.
- Verdant Falls: A new stage described as a lost, lush region. Gearbox said a night variant would appear in Seekers of the Storm.
- Dead Cells crossover: A special Mercenary skin available to all players.
Gearbox’s May 20, 2024 announcement identifies the release as Version 1.10 and describes it as free.

How Artifact of Delusion works
With Delusion active, a chest you bought resets after the teleporter event. It remembers the pickup it originally produced. When you interact with the reset chest, it presents three choices: the original pickup and two fake options modeled on items in your inventory.
- Choose the original pickup correctly and you receive it again as an additional reward from that chest.
- Choose incorrectly and you lose the item you selected.
The artifact therefore turns a chest into a post-teleporter identification gamble: the potential reward is a second copy of the original pickup, while a wrong guess costs an item already in your inventory.

How Artifact of Devotion works
Devotion replaces drones with interactive eggs. An egg takes one item and turns it into a Lemurian companion, with the sacrificed item applied to that companion. When there are multiple Lemurians, items are shared among them.
Companion growth and risk
Each teleporter event the party survives triggers an evolution. The Lemurian gains attributes and strength and receives another stack of its starting item. The update notes say devoted Lemurians start with damage and health buffs comparable to a normal elite, scaling with the difficulty timer; each evolution adds another damage and defense buff.

If a Lemurian dies, it drops scrap of the same tier as its item, and that item is removed from the item pool. The trade is thus more than temporary drone replacement: you give up an item to create a companion whose power can build over successive teleporter events, but whose death also changes your item economy.
Dead Cells crossover and bug fixes
The update includes a special Mercenary skin associated with Dead Cells, available to all players. Gearbox framed it as a return favor after Dead Cells had featured Risk of Rain-inspired content the previous year.

The announcement lists these minor fixes:
- Forgive Me Please no longer continuously triggers on-kill effects.
- Artifact of Command no longer prevents Lunar Coins from spawning.
- An exploit involving a chest, Firework, and Squid Turret was fixed.
- The Demons and Crabs challenge now unlocks normally.
Those are the fix areas named in the announcement; it does not provide a full technical breakdown of every change or a named statistic about the update.

Yes. Gearbox described Version 1.10 as a free update, not a separate product. The announcement does not enumerate exact platform-by-platform availability, so it does not establish a precise rollout for every platform. A game purchase, where needed, is separate from the free update.
