Roblox announced Roblox Moments, a short-form gameplay video experience, alongside new creator AI and language tools at its Developers Conference on September 5, 2025. Moments was described as a beta where users could capture and edit clips up to 30 seconds, share them, react to other videos, and tap through to join the featured experience. The access details below reflect Roblox’s 2025 announcement; they do not confirm what is available to every user in 2026.

What Roblox Moments was announced to do

Roblox presented Moments as an on-platform way to capture, edit, share, and discover gameplay videos. Viewers could react to clips and tap to join the Roblox experience featured in a video, connecting short-form viewing directly to playing. Roblox said the beta would be for users aged 13 or older.

In its September 5, 2025 announcement, Roblox said users could make clips up to 30 seconds, trim them, add music, and write a description. Captured content submitted for publication would be moderated before posting, and users could report content they considered inappropriate. These are announcement-era product details, not confirmation that the same limits and workflow apply today. Roblox’s Moments announcement describes the feature and launch details.

How creators and players fit into the clip workflow

Moments was the player-facing destination; the related APIs were intended to let creators build capture and sharing functions into their own experiences. Roblox described the workflow in stages rather than as a set of interchangeable products:

Stage What Roblox described Announcement-era status
Capture Capture gameplay content from within an experience. Captures API was described as available.
Edit and publish Support editing and sharing captured material. Upload API was described as forthcoming.
Discovery Help users find and recommend clips. Recommendation API was described as forthcoming.

Roblox said Moments could be reached through Search and the More tab, with additional Home placements planned. Because the post was published on September 5, 2025, those pathways and API statuses should be treated as historical rather than as a current setup guide. The official Moments post is the source for the announcement-era access and API descriptions.

What other creator tools Roblox announced

The September 5 Developers Conference post covered tools beyond video. Roblox said creators would be able to use AI to generate functional interactive objects, initially in select vehicle and weapon categories. It also announced Text-to-Speech and Speech-to-Text APIs; the text-to-speech announcement listed 10 English voice presets. The company separately announced real-time voice-chat translation, initially covering English, Spanish, French, and German, and an upgrade to Studio Assistant that would work with third-party systems through Model Context Protocol (MCP).

These announcements addressed different needs: object generation and Studio Assistant were creator workflow tools, speech APIs could support voice features in experiences, and translation was aimed at communication across languages. Roblox’s post establishes what it announced at RDC, not the current access, rollout, or capabilities of each tool. Roblox’s RDC 2025 announcement outlines the suite.

DevEx, discovery and licensing announcements

DevEx rate change

Roblox said it was increasing the Developer Exchange (DevEx) rate so creators would earn 8.5% more when converting eligible earned Robux into cash under the program’s terms. This is a change to the DevEx conversion rate, not an across-the-board 8.5% increase in every creator’s income or in all Roblox earnings.

Advertising and discovery

Roblox reported that more than 45,000 experiences had used Ads Manager in 2025 as of August 5, a 70% year-over-year increase. The company also discussed improved analytics and search advertising as forthcoming. These figures and plans were Roblox’s own statements, not an independent assessment of advertising performance.

Licensing partners

Roblox named Lionsgate, Netflix, Sega, and Kodansha among licensing partners and announced additions Mattel and Invisible Narratives. These relationships were presented as creator licensing and catalog opportunities; they do not establish a consumer affiliate program.

The DevEx, advertising, and licensing details come from Roblox’s September 5, 2025 RDC post.

The scale behind the announcement

Roblox used platform and video figures to explain why it was investing in gameplay clips and creator tools. The figures below are attributed to Roblox’s September 2025 posts; each has its own period or attribution.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Roblox reported over 1 trillion Roblox-related video views on YouTube, attributing the figure to YouTube’s official blog.
  • For July 24 to August 24, 2025, Roblox reported more than 930 million screenshots captured on Roblox and more than 240 million videos captured in experiences.
  • For Q2 2025, Roblox cited more than 111.8 million average daily active users.
  • For the 12 months ending June 30, 2025, Roblox cited more than 390 billion visits to experiences.
  • Roblox said creators had earned over $1 billion through DevEx over the prior year.

These are company-reported context figures, not independent measurements of Moments’ audience or results. The applicable source posts are the Moments announcement and the RDC announcement.

What to check before using Moments or its APIs

The official posts establish the September 2025 announcement, including an initial 13+ audience for Moments and a distinction between APIs described as available and those planned for later. They do not establish present-day regional availability, eligibility, UI placement, clip limits, or API access. Check Roblox’s current product and creator documentation before relying on those historical details for a tutorial or production workflow.
