Players can also capture clips of up to 30 seconds using Roblox’s built-in tools. Moments began as a beta in September 2025; Roblox’s July 2026 update describes it as a dedicated tab in a redesigned app, with access still varying by age and region.
What Roblox Moments does
Moments is designed to make gameplay videos a route to finding and playing Roblox experiences. A clip can show what a game looks and feels like, while the Join action takes the viewer to the experience featured in the post. Roblox described this connection as a way to move from watching to playing, rather than treating clips as a separate destination.
Roblox introduced Moments as a beta on September 5, 2025, with a flow for recording, editing, and publishing gameplay clips. In an update published July 28, 2026, Roblox described Moments as a dedicated tab in a redesigned app. The company said players in Canada, New Zealand, and Singapore would begin seeing the new app then, with the tab rolling out globally over the following months. That announcement does not confirm that the rollout is now complete worldwide.
Who can access Moments
Access depends on age and region. Roblox’s September 2025 beta announcement said Moments was available to users aged 13 or older. Its July 2026 app update described discovery access for players age-checked as 16 or older. Those statements refer to different product moments and should not be treated as a single, unchanged age rule. Roblox says feature availability can vary by age and region, so check the current app and Roblox Help information for your account and country.

How to record a Roblox gameplay clip
Roblox Support says built-in video capture is available on desktop and mobile and records up to 30 seconds of motion. Start from inside an experience:
- Open the Roblox menu while playing.
- Select Captures.
- Use the capture icon to record the clip.
- Find the video in Roblox app storage, or export it to your device’s camera roll or your desktop Videos folder.
Roblox says clips are stored in the app unless exported. Unsaved gallery videos are deleted if you delete the Roblox application, so export any clip you want to keep before uninstalling. The capture feature does not record voice chat or other in-experience audio. Roblox also says it removes aliases above avatars and in-experience UI elements from captures. These capture details are documented by Roblox Support.

How clips are edited, shared, and used for discovery
In its launch description, Roblox said players could trim clips, add music, write a description, and publish them for other users to discover. The company also said submitted content is moderated before publication and can be reported. In the July 2026 app update, Roblox described viewers as able to discover videos from friends and other players and join games with one tap.
Roblox said users could add music during editing through a partnership with DistroKid. That announcement does not establish that a paid DistroKid plan is required. It also does not specify a Moments creator payout or a dedicated monetization program.

What Moments means for Roblox creators
Moments has a player-facing side—capturing and discovering videos in the app—and a creator-facing side involving Roblox services that can support in-experience capture and recommendations. The launch announcement called the Captures API available and described the Upload and Recommendation APIs as forthcoming. Current Creator Hub documentation now covers CaptureService and RecommendationService; the launch-era timing language is no longer a reliable description of their status.
CaptureService and uploading
Creator Hub documents CaptureService features for recording, accessing a gallery, saving, and uploading captures. The current documentation lists a completed Maturity and Compliance questionnaire as a prerequisite for uploads and a limit of 20 video uploads per user per day. Uploads may take several minutes. Because the exact implementation depends on current API behavior and user permissions, creators should consult the live documentation before building an upload flow.

RecommendationService
Creator Hub documents RecommendationService for recommendations built by creators. Its documentation lists MaximizeJoins as a recommendation configuration exclusive to Roblox Moments. This is a creator tool, not the same thing as a player simply tapping Join on a video.
Suggested uses are not guaranteed outcomes
Roblox’s 2025 announcement suggested ideas such as prompting players to capture a clip after an achievement, creating highlight reels, showing racing moments on in-world billboards, and showcasing fashion designs. These are examples of possible implementations, not evidence that a particular format will perform well or generate revenue. Roblox said Moments could create future opportunities for growth, monetization, and brand integrations, but the announcement did not establish a specific payout or partner program.

What Roblox’s launch figures do—and do not—show
In its September 2025 announcement, Roblox cited more than 1 trillion Roblox-related video views on YouTube, describing them as global lifetime views and citing YouTube’s official blog. Roblox also reported more than 930 million screenshots and more than 240 million videos captured in Roblox experiences during July 24–August 24, 2025. These are dated, company-reported figures, not current usage counts or measures of Moments’ audience. Roblox’s separate July 2026 figure of an average 132 million daily active users is not Moments-specific and cannot be used to infer how many people see or post Moments clips.
