The CNPP expansion teased for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is no longer just a possibility: Cost of Hope launched on August 20, 2026, alongside the free Back to the Zone — Update 2.0. It adds the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and Iron Forest regions, with the Duty–Freedom conflict at its center.
What happened to the CNPP teaser?
On December 30, 2025, Pure Xbox reported that a New Year’s teaser might point to CNPP content, while noting that the connection was uncertain. That speculation has since been answered: GSC Game World announced Cost of Hope as an expansion featuring the CNPP and Iron Forest, then released it in August 2026. Pure Xbox’s original teaser coverage is historical context, not a current indication that the expansion is still unconfirmed.
