Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchIf Umbrella Corps keeps crashing on PC, first check the game’s system requirements, then update Windows and your graphics driver, verify the Steam installation, and test relevant security, compatibility, and display settings. Capcom lists outdated graphics drivers or DirectX as possible causes of freezing and display problems, but no single fix is established for every crash. Work through the checks below one at a time so you can identify what changes the result.
Start by identifying when the crash happens
Before changing settings, note whether the game crashes immediately on launch, during a loading screen, or after you begin playing. Record any error message and whether the problem started after a Windows, driver, or game update. This helps distinguish a launch failure from an in-game crash and gives support useful details if troubleshooting does not resolve it.

- Write down the exact error text, if one appears.
- Record your Windows version, graphics card, RAM, and graphics-driver version.
- Save any available crash report and a DxDiag report.
- Note what you changed and whether the crash still occurs after each test.
Check whether the PC meets the listed requirements
Steam’s Umbrella Corps store listing specifies these requirements. They are published minimum and recommended specifications, not a guarantee that every PC meeting them will run without crashing.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Not stated on Steam’s listing |
| Processor | Intel Core i3-4160 or better | Intel Core i7-4790 |
| Memory | 4 GB RAM | 6 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce GTX 460 or better | GeForce GTX 760 or better |
| DirectX | Version 11 | Not stated on Steam’s listing |
| Storage | 13 GB available space | Not stated on Steam’s listing |
Compare your PC with the listed operating system, GPU, RAM, DirectX version, and free storage. Capcom says it does not warrant support on pre-release Windows Insider builds and does not guarantee normal operation with mobile or external GPUs; see its system-requirements guidance.

Update Windows and your graphics driver
Capcom’s Umbrella Corps graphics FAQ identifies outdated video drivers or DirectX as possible contributors to visual problems or freezing. Install graphics drivers from your GPU or computer manufacturer, apply available Windows updates, and restart the PC. If the issue involves freezing or graphics, check DirectX through Microsoft’s official update route as well. Updating may help, but it is not a guaranteed crash fix.
Verify the Steam files and check the PC environment
Capcom’s PC game troubleshooting guide, updated September 4, 2025, recommends checking the installation and the surrounding PC environment. Make one relevant change at a time and try to reproduce the crash after each one.

- Verify the game files in Steam. Open your Steam Library, right-click Umbrella Corps, choose Properties, open Installed Files, and select Verify integrity of game files. Let Steam finish before launching the game again.
- Check security software. See whether antivirus or other security software is blocking the game or Steam. Follow the software provider’s instructions for a targeted exception if appropriate; do not turn off protection globally as a routine fix.
- Close unrelated applications. Exit nonessential background programs and retest. If that changes the result, reopen programs individually to identify a possible conflict.
- Review compatibility and permissions. Check whether Compatibility Mode is enabled for the game executable and whether Steam or the game needs appropriate administrator privileges. Change only settings relevant to your situation and record the original state.
- Check display settings and shader cache. If the crash is associated with graphics or loading, review the display configuration and shader-cache guidance in Capcom’s troubleshooting instructions. The game’s manual says graphics, video, sound, and control options are available from the Options Menu, but does not identify changing those options as a general crash fix.
Why old DEP advice should not be your first fix
A Capcom Customer Service-pinned Steam Community post dated June 23, 2016 associated some launch problems with Windows Data Execution Prevention (DEP) and described excluding uc.exe. That post presented the steps as a hotfix while developers investigated; it is historical advice, not confirmation of a current, universal cause. Start with Capcom’s broader troubleshooting guide instead, and do not disable DEP for all programs.
Contact support with evidence if it still crashes
If the steps above do not resolve the problem, provide Capcom with the exact reproduction steps, crash stage, error text, PC specifications, graphics-driver version, DxDiag report, and available crash report. Capcom’s troubleshooting guide identifies a CrashReport folder and explains what information to include. A game-specific Steam Community reporting thread also requests system specifications, video-driver information, and crash logs. These details can help narrow down the cause; without them, a particular crash cannot be attributed to a specific component or setting.
