If Library of Ruina is crashing on PC, first pin down when it fails: before the game opens, after the logo, during loading, or during play. Identify where the crash happens
“Crashing” can mean several different things, and the distinction matters. These are the game requirements as listed by Steam, not a guarantee that a qualifying PC will run without problems. Steam separately states on its technical-support page that its client has supported Windows 10 and later since January 1, 2024. The store’s Windows 7 game requirement should not be read as a statement that the Steam client still supports Windows 7.
Try checks that match the symptom
The steps below come from Steam Community discussion and guide pages, not controlled testing or official developer instructions. Use only the checks that fit what you see. Preserve the original setting and note the result before trying another change.

If Steam-installed files may be damaged
A community guide suggests using Steam’s Verify integrity of game files option. In Steam, open the game’s Library entry and use its installed-files properties to find the verification control; Steam’s labels can vary with client layout. This checks the installation files, but the guide does not establish that file verification fixes every crash.
If the screen stays black after the logo
A Steam Community discussion and a community troubleshooting guide suggest checking which graphics processor the game is using. If your PC has more than one GPU, check the graphics settings available in Windows or your GPU software and confirm the game is assigned to the intended processor.

The discussion also mentions trying -force-opengl in the game’s Steam launch options. Treat this as a user-reported experiment, not a universal fix. If it makes no difference or causes another problem, remove the option. Launching the executable directly may bypass Steam launch options, so use Steam to start the game when testing this setting.
If the game crashes during loading
The community guide mentions -force-d3d11-singlethreaded for a reported loading-bar crash. Consider it only when your symptom matches that report, and remove it if it does not help. The guide does not establish how often it works or whether it applies broadly to current installations.

If the log points to a Windows media component
The guide describes a particular log clue: initialization involving WindowsVideoMedia or Microsoft Media Foundation. For that specific clue, it suggests installing the Media Feature Pack that matches the Windows edition and restarting. This is an older community report; check the instructions for your exact Windows edition before changing components. A black screen by itself is not a reason to install a third-party codec pack.
If mods are installed
Record which mods are present and whether the crash began after one was added or changed. If you can do so without risking progress, check whether the issue also occurs without the suspected mod. The community pages ask about mods, but they do not establish that mods are the cause in an unknown case.

Use logs to preserve useful evidence
The community guide points to Player.log and Player-Prev.log in the game’s LocalLow folder for a startup or loading investigation. If those files exist, keep a copy and note the time of the crash so you can identify the relevant entries. Don’t assume that one log phrase proves a cause; use it as a clue to describe the failure accurately.
Before editing configuration, reinstalling, or replacing files, back up your saves. The guide identifies the save location as %USERPROFILE%AppDataLocalLowProject MoonLibraryOfRuina. Copy the folder somewhere separate and do not delete or overwrite your only save copy. A backup protects progress; it does not fix the crash.
Contact ProjectMoon if the problem persists
Steam lists ProjectMoon as the game’s official support provider and gives [email protected] as the contact email. Include:
- When the crash occurs and what appears on screen.
- When it began and any recent game, driver, mod, or save changes.
- Your Windows version, CPU, GPU and graphics-driver version.
- Any error text and relevant
Player.logorPlayer-Prev.logexcerpt. - Whether you tested without mods and which reversible checks you tried.
Those details help distinguish a startup failure from a black-screen or loading issue without assuming a cause that has not been established.
