GSC Game World says Patch 1.2 for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl brought more than 1,700 fixes and improvements across the game, including AI, combat balance, performance, crashes, quests, locations, and controls. The official support article displays a publication time of March 10, 2025, at 13:46; that timestamp should not be confused with the patch’s first announcement or platform rollout date.
What changed in Patch 1.2?
Patch 1.2 was a broad maintenance and gameplay update, not a focused AI or performance patch. GSC’s headline describes “over 1700 fixes and improvements to all aspects of the game.” That is the developer’s stated total, not an independently audited count. The detailed notes group changes across combat and AI, optimization and stability, main-story missions, side missions and encounters, regions, audio, cutscenes, voice-over, and controls.

Did Patch 1.2 improve AI and combat?
Yes. The notes describe changes to NPC behavior, combat, stealth, and mutant encounters. Examples include fixes for NPCs looting corpses and switching weapons, and adjustments to shooting accuracy and bullet dispersion. GSC also listed stealth changes and fixes to mutant combat behavior.

Some fixes concerned A-Life behavior, including NPC spawning and other NPC behavior issues. The notes list specific corrections rather than a quantified measure of how much more realistic or active the world became.
What performance and stability problems did it address?
GSC listed several targeted performance and stability fixes: a frame-rate drop during the Faust boss fight, a performance drop when closing the PDA or pause menu, and a memory leak. The patch notes also say that more than 100 access-violation crashes and other errors were fixed.

These are developer-reported fixes, not independent benchmark results. The notes do not establish a general FPS increase or guarantee that crashes and performance problems were eliminated on every PC or console configuration.
Which quest problems were fixed?
GSC says it addressed more than 300 main-story quest issues. The mission-specific notes cover blockers and logic corrections across the campaign, including cases where mission progression or expected character and objective behavior could fail. The update also addressed anomalies in side missions and encounters.

The developer’s notes count 130+ side-mission and encounter anomalies. That figure applies to that category in the patch notes; it is not a count of every quest issue in the game.
What else was included?
The patch also reached beyond AI, quests, and stability. GSC’s notes list 450+ improvements in the regions and locations section, along with almost 100 fixes each aimed at audio, cutscenes, and voice-over. Controls and other game systems also received changes. These are the developer’s category counts, not a measure of the size or impact of each individual fix.

Is Patch 1.2 the latest version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2?
No. Patch 1.2 is a historical update, not a description of the game’s current state. GSC’s later Update 2.0 announcement, dated September 1, 2026, describes an upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.5.4, A-Life improvements, new gameplay features, and more than 500 bug fixes. The two headline fix totals describe different updates and should not be read as a direct measure of quality or of how many issues remain.
