S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl Update 1.6 is the “Night of the Hunter” update. It is a historical update, not the game’s latest: GSC Game World has since published material about Update 2.0.

GSC’s verified showcase description calls it “The Night of the Hunter Update” and says it brings “night vision devices to spot the things that lurk in shadows, a powerful laser sight to track them, and offset aiming for brutal close combat annihilation.” That is the developer’s promotional description, not a detailed explanation of how each feature works in play.

Is Update 1.6 the latest STALKER 2 update?
No. Update 1.6 describes the “Night of the Hunter” release from September 23, 2025; it should not be described as the current or latest game version. GSC’s September 2026 Update 2.0 and modding FAQ confirms that later update material has appeared. Check the game’s current build and platform-specific rollout before following version-dependent installation or troubleshooting steps.
