If Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands is crashing on PC, first note whether it fails to launch, closes while loading, or crashes during play—and capture any error message. There is no single confirmed cause for every crash. Work through the checks below one at a time, testing the game after each change so you can tell what affected the problem.
1. Identify when Wildlands crashes
Before changing settings, record what happens when you try to play. “Crashing” can describe different failures, and the right first check depends on where the game stops.

- Clicking Play does nothing: Note whether the launcher shows an error or the game process appears briefly.
- It closes at a splash screen or during loading: Record the last screen or activity you see.
- It crashes after gameplay starts: Note what was happening immediately beforehand and whether the failure is repeatable.
Copy the full text of any error, including an Easy Anti-Cheat message. Also note whether the issue began after a game, launcher, graphics-driver, or Windows update. These details help narrow the report; they do not identify a cause on their own.
2. Check the PC requirements and launch dependencies
Ubisoft’s February 16, 2017 PC specifications are release-era targets, not a guarantee of performance on a current Windows installation. Compare your components with them before considering an upgrade.

The Ubisoft Store listing, accessed October 8, 2026, currently displays Windows 10 and Windows 11, a 6 GB RAM minimum, and 50 GB storage. Steam Support likewise lists Windows 10 and Windows 11 as playable for the game; its statement that Steam Client support covers Windows 10 and later starting January 1, 2024 is about the client, not when Wildlands itself became compatible.
Easy Anti-Cheat is a launch requirement
Ubisoft’s Store listing says Easy Anti-Cheat is installed automatically and is required to play; it also says the game cannot launch if Easy Anti-Cheat has been uninstalled. If you see a related launch error, include its exact text when troubleshooting. This requirement does not establish Easy Anti-Cheat as the cause of crashes that happen after launch. Do not remove or bypass it.

3. Follow the Wildlands PC troubleshooting checklist
The Wildlands player-support checklist recommends trying its steps in order and testing after each one. Treat these as support suggestions, not proof that a particular setting, cache, or drive is responsible for your crash.
- Try the checklist’s general PC troubleshooting. Make one change at a time and check whether it changes the symptom.
- Clear the Ubisoft Connect cache if you use Ubisoft Connect, then test the game.
- Clear the Steam cache if you use Steam, then test again. Use the cache step for the launcher you use rather than assuming both apply.
- Check which GPU runs the game. On a PC with integrated and dedicated graphics, make sure Wildlands is using the dedicated GPU.
- If you use Windows 11, try Windows compatibility mode as suggested in the checklist, then test the same failure point.
- Run an SFC scan as the checklist suggests, then see whether the crash changes.
- Check the installation drive. The checklist suggests installing Wildlands on an SSD that is also the drive where Ubisoft Connect and Steam are installed. This is a support recommendation, not evidence that an SSD will fix every crash; do not replace a working drive solely on that basis.
For a problem that is specifically about connectivity, the checklist points to connectivity troubleshooting and checking for service degradation. A connectivity issue is distinct from a local crash, so first establish which symptom you have.

The in-game benchmark is useful only if you can get to the menu. Ubisoft Help’s benchmark instructions are:
- Open Options → Graphics → Benchmark.
- Select Accept to run the benchmark.
- Adjust Graphics settings toward the system requirements, then run the benchmark again to compare results.
This can help you assess performance with your current settings. Ubisoft presents it as a performance check, not as a repair for a game that will not launch or a diagnosis of why it crashes.

5. Account for the August 2026 update narrowly
Ubisoft’s August 19, 2026 update note on loading times and Ubisoft Connect compatibility says a patch was made to try to improve long loading times at the start of the game and restore the ability for Steam players to join Ubisoft Connect players in co-op. The note is specific to those issues; it does not establish a general crash fix or show that a separate launch or gameplay crash is resolved.
6. What to send Ubisoft Support if it still crashes
If the checks do not resolve the issue, provide Ubisoft Support with the details its player-support checklist requests, plus the symptom information you recorded:

- Whether the crash is at launch, during loading, or in gameplay, and what you were doing when it happened
- The full error text or a description of what appears on screen
- Your Windows version
- Your PC specifications, including CPU, GPU, and RAM
- Whether you play through Ubisoft Connect or Steam
- Which troubleshooting steps you tried and what changed, if anything
That gives support a specific failure to investigate rather than asking them to infer a cause from “crashing on PC.”
