Epic Games Store’s October 2, 2026 weekly giveaway featured Buried Stars and System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster. Epic listed their US prices at $39.99 and $29.99—a combined $69.98 before the giveaway. The offer ended October 8, 2026, so these two games are no longer claimable as free through that promotion.
Which games were included?
The October 2 roundup paired a branching mystery adventure with a sci-fi horror remaster. Epic’s offer announcement described both titles and their free-game period.
Buried Stars
Epic listed Buried Stars at $39.99 in the US store in 2026. It is a mystery adventure about contestants and crew trapped beneath a collapsed studio during a live survival-audition broadcast. After a murder, survivors question one another as they try to make it out. Dialogue choices shape branching routes and multiple endings; clues also emerge through reactions on an in-game social feed and timeline.
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster
Epic listed the remaster at $29.99 in the US store in 2026. Set aboard the FTL ship Von Braun, it blends sci-fi horror with choices about how to develop skills for hacking or combat. Epic says the remaster adds cross-play co-op and widescreen support.

How much were the games worth?
Epic’s displayed US prices add up to $69.98: $39.99 for Buried Stars plus $29.99 for System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster. That is a calculation from the individual storefront prices, not a separately advertised bundle value. Prices can vary by region, so the total does not necessarily apply outside the US.
Can you still claim these Epic free games?
No. The two-game offer ended on October 8, 2026. Epic’s announcement showed an 8:00 AM end time, while its homepage displayed 11:00 AM. Both cutoff times had passed by October 8 at 14:08:35 UTC, the time reflected in the available offer information. Epic’s pages do not explain the difference between the displayed times.

These were time-limited digital offers on Epic Games Store, not physical-product promotions. Epic describes its broader program as providing a free game every week, with a new game arriving Thursdays on mobile and PC; mobile availability depends on platform and region. That general schedule does not make this expired October offer available again. See Epic’s free-games page for the program and current listings.
