Schedule I became unavailable for purchase on the Australian Steam store in May 2025, according to players who saw a regional-unavailability message. The reported reason was an Australian classification requirement—not a permanent ban. The Australian Classification Board later rated the game R 18+, but that record does not confirm whether Steam checkout is available in Australia today.
What happened to Schedule I on Steam in Australia?
On 12 May 2025, a player in a Steam Community discussion reported that the store showed the message “this item is not available in your region.” Contemporary coverage also described the Australian store listing as unavailable. The incident was regional: it did not establish that the game had been removed from Steam everywhere. Steam Community discussion; GamesRadar report.
Why was it unavailable?
The Steam discussion reproduced a statement attributed to developer Tyler. He said he had understood Australia’s classification requirement to apply only to console or physical releases, and that the studio was starting the classification process after learning games needed classification before sale in Australia. Because this explanation appears in a community thread, it is best treated as a statement reproduced there, rather than as a directly verified first-party announcement. Steam Community discussion.
GamesRadar’s May 2025 coverage likewise characterized the interruption as temporary and classification-related, not a permanent ban. GamesRadar report.

What classification did the game receive?
The Australian Classification Board’s official entry lists Schedule I as R 18+, with a classification date of 7 July 2025. Its consumer advice cites high-impact drug themes, interactive drug use, simulated gambling and online interactivity. The board describes a fictional simulation involving growing, manufacturing and selling drugs, and says interactive drug use is not linked to direct incentives or rewards. The entry lists PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 as media types. Australian Classification Board entry.
The classification confirms that the game received an Australian rating after the reported May interruption. It does not show whether an Australian customer can complete a Steam purchase now; a rating record and a storefront’s current checkout availability are separate facts.
