Treasured Fish are caught at marked shoals during Hunter’s Call fishing-map voyages—not by ordinary fishing. Start a map voyage, fish at its marked locations without bait, then protect the catch: Treasured Fish can be dropped and stolen, and must be delivered to Hunter’s Call to earn gold and reputation.
How to start a Treasured Fish voyage
The Hunter’s Fishing Map Voyage is the straightforward route. The voyage guide says to select it from the Quest Table under the Hunter’s Call Trading Company. Its single chapter leads to two marked shoals by a large island, with six Treasured Fish available in total. See the Hunter’s Fishing Map Voyage guide for the voyage details.

A Pirate’s Fishing Map is another map-voyage route described in the Treasured Fish guide. The exact steps and availability of that route may change, so check your in-game Quest Table for what is currently offered.
What to expect from the different fishing maps

The event map is useful context if you encounter old guides or videos, but its higher catch count does not make it a current alternative. Event and voyage rotations can change; confirm availability in-game or through an official current events page.

How to catch and secure Treasured Fish
- Start an available fishing-map voyage and follow its map to the marked shoal.
- Cast at the marked location. Treasured Fish do not require bait; this differs from some ordinary fish, for which bait and location can matter.
- When you catch one, pick it up and keep it protected until you can deliver it. Treasured Fish behave like treasure rather than ordinary fish: you cannot put them in inventory, crates, or resource barrels.
- Return to a Hunter’s Call representative and sell the fish before another crew can take it.
Treasured Fish cannot be cooked or eaten. They can be dropped, which means they can also be stolen while left on the ground. Treat each catch as unsecured cargo until it is sold.
Why ordinary fishing advice is different
Rare’s fishing tutorial describes ten fish types, each with five varieties, and explains that ordinary species appear in particular areas and may call for specific bait. Its general advice that fish can be caught without bait, but bait helps complete the full species set, applies to regular fishing—not to the map-specific Treasured Fish catch.

For ordinary fish, the bait guide pairs Earthworms with Plentifins in the Shores of Plenty, Wildsplashes in the Wilds, and Wreckers above shipwrecks; Leeches with Ancientscales in the Ancient Isles and Stormfishes during storms; and Grubs with Devilfishes in the Devil’s Roar and Battlegills near active Skeleton Forts and Fleets. Those pairings are background guidance only: Treasured Fish require no bait.

Sell Treasured Fish to the Hunter’s Call for gold and Hunter’s Call reputation. They are not ordinary fish, so advice to cook a regular catch for a higher sale value does not apply: Treasured Fish cannot be cooked in the first place.
