Sektor’s powered armor makes the Iron Man comparison an easy visual shorthand—but it is an editorial analogy, not a confirmed Marvel influence. NetherRealm combat designer Joe Epstein describes Sektor’s armor as built around power, a design choice that helps explain the character’s imposing, armor-forward presentation in Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns.
Why Sektor looks like Mortal Kombat’s answer to Iron Man
The resemblance comes from the broad visual idea of a fighter whose identity is inseparable from powered armor. Sektor’s suit gives her a mechanical, heavily equipped silhouette, making the Iron Man comparison understandable as a way to describe the look. It should not be taken as an official comparison: the reviewed official sources do not say NetherRealm drew on Marvel or establish any Marvel connection.

There is, however, a specific design distinction from the developers. In an interview with Xbox Wire, NetherRealm combat designer Joe Epstein said: “Where Cyrax’s suit is adapted for agility and deception, Sektor’s armor has all its points pushed into power.” That is the grounded comparison: Sektor’s armor emphasizes power, while Cyrax’s is designed around agility and deception.
Who Sektor is in Khaos Reigns
In this Mortal Kombat timeline, Sektor is a woman, a master armorer, and a skilled Lin Kuei warrior. Warner Bros. Games describes her as Sub-Zero’s most trusted lieutenant. The character is playable as part of Kombat Pack 2, as listed in the Mortal Kombat FAQ and the publisher’s Khaos Reigns inclusion guide.

#1 Best Overall
- Arcade-Favorite Games: 3 Mortal Kombat arcade titles ship on this cabinet, Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat II among them, so the ladder, the hidden fighters and the finishing moves live on the countertop
- Real-Feel Joystick and Buttons: Full-size arcade controls sit under your hand the way the original cabinets did, which is the point of buying an arcade machine instead of playing arcade games on a phone
- 7" Full-Color LCD: A 7 inch full-colour screen keeps the sprites sharp and the frame rate smooth, and the viewing angle suits a table top or a bar top where you stand over it rather than sit
- Portable with a Built-In Handle: A top-mounted carry handle and a countertop footprint mean it moves between a desk, a shelf and a game room unaided, far smaller than full size arcade machines
- Multiple Power Options: Run it on 4 AA batteries, not included, or plug in a Micro-USB cable, and it arrives fully assembled with nothing to build, among the easier gifts for a retro gaming household
