What does each fossil give you?
The familiar choice is between two Pokémon lines:

- Check your game edition if you need to know where the choice happens or what each fossil does there. The cited guides cover different editions, so don’t assume every game handles the decision identically.
Is one fossil better in battle?
The available guides do not establish that one option is always stronger. Without a specified game edition and intended team role, there isn’t enough evidence to recommend one as the universal competitive pick. If battle performance is your priority, compare the two Pokémon in the exact game you’re playing rather than choosing based on a general claim.
Does the choice matter for collecting?
Yes, if you want both fossil Pokémon lines: choosing one means receiving its corresponding line through that choice in games with this mechanic. Whether you should prioritize one for your collection depends on which Pokémon you like more and what other ways to obtain the other line are available in your particular edition.
